clearyclaire, tracina, christianne, sarah, Angie, Jewell, Makrame, Kiwichik, Kirti, - Thank you! Yes, the devil is in the details, for sure.
Transcona Shannon, Isis - Fit is so important, isn't it? With this outfit, the top is not fitted or waist-revealing, but rather floaty and body skimming (not baggy - that should never be the opposite for fitted!). I'm long-waisted, so finding a suitably long top is a chore, but so critical. Too short tops can instantly make me look dated and frumpy.
teeandcee - Thank you - I got a bit wordy and probably should have stuck to bullet points! To further illustrate, a pre-YLF casual outfit might have consisted of the following:
* slightly boxy women's tee
* plain brown sandals ("brown goes with everything!")
* non-descript wire-rimmed eyeglasses
* no watch
Beth Ann - Thanks! I'm trying to document more summer outfits for that exact reason! It's been fun compiling a personal "look book" with outfits that have secured YLF-approval. Keeps me honest, too!
Sarah A - Not to late to jump on the casual WIW bandwagon. Thanks for the kind words. I did a lot of research before I bought this watch - and it just ticks all the boxes for me. Who can resist its oversized polka dotted face?
ManidipaM - Thank you so much! Yes, casual does not equal sloppy! It was so fun and so easy to put this outfit together...I feel like each piece was chosen for a specific reason/role, and that's so critical when you have a small wardrobe...
Re: the eyeshadow base, I wear Laura Mercier's "eye basics" in flax...oddly enough, while it's marketed as a base, it is also widely used on its own, as the flax color has a lovely subtle shimmer. It is usually around the eye area that makes me look tired, so anything that adds light or shimmer to that area helps a lot.
