Bad hair bandana style

I wasn’t going to post this - but Angie’s blog today...

Chore day this past weekend, and hair misbehaving after an ill advised attempt at blow drying it straight. (Air dry and curly is the norm). I am past my hair cut date, but not long enough for a ponytail. Experimenting with bandana’s and looking for head-wrap ideas.

DS#1 said I looked like Rosie the Riveter. #keepingitreal

Haha, TG! Carla, if anyone can channel Rosie it's you. It will be very interesting to see what happens with everyone's hair over the next months. Mine will be longer than perhaps it's ever been, and my curls seem to like it just fine. (My grey roots are another story!)

I absolutely adore you with the bandana! It’s so perfect and very rockabilly! I think it suits you perfectly. I’ve been doing a 1960s kerchief lately like this. I love it! It’s maybe not as glam as my usual 40s turban? But fun!

You look cute. If it gets long enough, you can do what a college roommate did...pull it up or back, rubberband it in place, and cover the bushy tail with an old fashioned no show hairnet. Instant bun. She had to vigorously backcomb her hair to get more volume before hair-netting it.

I love it. Do you have a trick for keeping your bandana in place? When I try this, mine always slide off the back of my head.

Me too, even Scrunchies and barrettes fall out, but I have always blamed it on my stick straight hair. Carla’s is curly. My sister, who has some curl, does not have the problem. My mother’s solution was to give me horrible home perms. Yuk!

Rosie is not a riveter these days, now she's sewing masks for the troops in the hospitals!
Etsy has some headbands that look like scarves on top but elastic on the bottom. Actually just did a search of "head scarf" on there and a big variety of ideas!

I have curly hair and headbands/berets/beanies always slide off my hair but scrunchies stay in place. Please share your secret.

I really like it! For those of you worried about slippage, I usually secure the scarf to my hair with a few kirby grips/ bobby pins - slide a few into strategic points, like at the nape or ears, to avoid them being seen.

Nice! Thanks for sharing this chic option. In the next few weeks I suspect many of us will have awkward hair days! So far I have tried tucking under a sports cap, beanie, a pony tail plus pulling the front ends back with Bobby pins so they are not sticking out.

In the past my hair style was very similar to yours, and growing it out was a long process because the undercut back layers are so much shorter than the rest. I had a friend who could French braid the longer part of my hair and somehow it looked nice. It may be worth trying. I wish I had a picture, but I only have the old pic here. The picture has a funny story...for another time....but it was taken in Windsor Ontario....
