Arrgh! I just typed up a big post with lots of pictures, hit submit, and it's GONE!!
Ah well, I'll try again.
DH and I just got back from a wonderful week in Paris. I meant to post packing pictures before we left, but was too pressed for time getting ready. So here they are with a little retrospective analysis.
We traveled with carry-ons only, and I really liked travelling light. Still, I had plenty to wear and was even able to squeeze in a second coat. I stuck with nothing but neutrals except a coat, purse, and scarves. Basically every piece went with everything else, so it was all interchangeable. I realized afterward that I had an awful lot of animal prints! Leopard, zebra, python- yikes! I guess that's what happens with a neutral color palette.
What I packed:
2 jackets: one gray knit blazer, one black drape-front jacket.
2 pairs black pants: one pair slouchy silk, one pair tux style
1 pair jeans
6 layering tops
Cobalt wool swing coat
Black lined nylon all-weather coat
2 pairs black ankle boots: one casual, one dressier
Metallic oxfords
Black ballet flats
Red large cross-body bag
Python clutch
Scarves
Foldable tote for packing our purchases to take home
How it worked out:
Great! I wore everything I brought, and was comfortable and felt appropriately dressed. It was unseasonably cold and often drizzly while we were there, and I was SO glad to have layers, warm coats, gloves, and scarves.
The jackets were comfortable and were able to be dressed up or down. With some colorful scarves, I felt like I had several different outfits with only a few pieces.
I only ended up wearing the silk pants in the evenings since it was so cold, and I only wore the ballet flats once, for the same reason.
I was really happy with my shoes. I alternated the Romika boots and the oxfords for day, and we walked for miles and miles and my feet never hurt the least bit! The Franco Sarto boots were also very comfortable, but aren't all-day walking shoes.
I almost didn't bring the all-weather coat, but I was glad I did since it rained a fair amount. But I was glad to have the blue coat, too, for variety, and to look a little nicer in the evening.
We did a little shopping, and I'll share some pics of what I bought in a different post, as well as a few Paris fashion observations.
Questions, comments, and suggestions are always welcome!
