Thanks Blue Jay - I chanced on mine and in the end had been thinking about a suit that would work equally well as seperates and this seemed perfect. Suz - it's a polyester/rayon/elastane mix which means relatively easy care although I will dry clean both together to keep them looking matching.
Thanks Slim Cat and Olive Green - I liked this one too - and it was really easy to wear.
Thanks Laurie - these two seem to have the consensus. I liked the slip skirt in reality more than in the photo so that's a good sign.
Haha Angie - I am more of a 70s person too. And I think I can incorporate a bit of 70s into these looks (the slip skirt and the red leather feel a little bit 70s). What made me lean this way was the realisation in looking at photos that at the moment clean lines are definitely my favourite. And maybe a bit of nostalgia for the 90s when I just wore and rewore looks to work on repeat...
Dee - yes I know what you mean (that was early 2000s for me). I think your recent denim look has a slight 90s influence.
Robin - these black and white sneakers have been so brilliant for work - ultra comfy as well as smart. One of my best buys of the last few years.
Brooklyn - I am not really a minimalist either. I suspect as I get into winter I will add in some more texture and variety. In the 2000s I wore a lot of A line skirts and cropped pants and graphic tees. Some were good in retrospect - and some less so. The 2010s I found harder...
I thought these would appeal to you Helena - a version of 1 would be brilliant on you. I just wear the satin skirt casually and dressily - it's surprisingly versatile. For me I will wear all year although I suspect it wouldn't work in Canadian winter.
Great ideas Lyn - yes pants and trousers often feel better for me when I am in such a male dominated and practical field. Skirts are okay if longer and not too floaty - I don't work on the tools but I can be near them.
Thanks Star - I have been collating some other photos of more casual or evening outfits - and these are NOT minimal. So I am all over the place too. I felt I needed a few more curated simple work looks that were "no brainers" - I could wear a branded polo shirt and jeans/chinos like all the males here but I am a bit too interested in style to do that unless I have to.
Send help though if I start wearing boat shoes and moleskin pants - I did wear this a lot in the 1990s!
