attempt at wearing an orphan

I've had this top a while and never worn it. I regretted this outfit as soon as I left the house - it feels a bit too revealing - I am wearing my coat as much as possible.

Should I toss the top? Or is there some better way to wear it?

The top doesn't look too revealing to me at all. To me, though, it looks like the kind of top that might look better dressing up some dark jeans. I DO love your raincoat though!!

So interesting! I was expecting a plunging neckline but instead saw this modest top!

What feels too revealing? The arms, or the neck area? Figuring that out might be helpful for further shopping.

I do understand how in some environments (or a less warm climate) it could feel uncomfortable. And wow, what a great coat!!! No wonder you want to wear that!

It has such a pretty ruffle but I can see how for work it might be uncomfortable if you don't typically bare your arms. Save for weekends?
The coat is such a pretty shade of raspberry - I have a coat in similar shade and I have tried to donate/ditch it many times but it is too cheery when I wear it so it lives on.

I'm trying to figure out if maybe this top just isn't your style. Do you usually wear a button front to work? Does the top feel too feminine/romantic to you? It doesn't seem risque, but I can understand it might feel funny if you are used to sleeves and a collar.

I don't think its revealing at all! I am a quite conservative dresser and this passes my "modesty" test, lol. Looks quite nice on you. As others said, I think it may go better with shorts or jeans, it has "casual" feel to it.

I'm pretty modest and conservative too and this doesn't look at all revealing to me either. And I agree on a different set of bottoms like jeans. I think white jeans would look great.

Are you an IT or secondary IT? The detailing on the top around the collar and sleeves might contribute to the problem. It brings a lot of attention to the top and maybe this is why you feel self conscious?

I think this top would look very good with :

High waist palazzo pants;

Midi flaring skirt;;

Tulip style skirt;

High waist flare jeans;

High waist shorts;

White capris.

However, if none of the style above tickle your fancy, and if it makes you feel exposed, I vote toss.

Is it because you don't feel like you can wear a sweater or jacket with it? I think it's lovely but if you're not used to having bare arms that can be an adjustment.

I love the idea of it with jeans or something more casual on the bottom for a contrast.

Thank you guys! It's not the bare arms that feels revealing to me - it's more the combination of fairly tight pencil skirt with waist-defining top - I feel like it says: "look at my butt!" But you guys are reassuring.

Krishni - high-waisted jeans or capris sounds perfect. Now that I think about it the main reason I've never worn this top is that I have no bottoms, and only this one skirt, that are high-waisted enough not to risk showing some belly/lower back.
