Hi all

Although summer is over here, March is still warm enough for the beach. In fact, it’s a great month because it’s warm but not as humid as January and February.

My DH absolutely loves the beach. I don’t. But I am a loving wife So once or twice a year we do a beach getaway. This year we were able to track down a dog friendly beach and dog friendly accommodation. Both are hard to find here. So canine Brooklyn, my namesake, aka Ms B, got to have a beach holiday too

Here are some pics. The indoor photos aren’t great quality.

Pic 3: my havaianas. Mmmm... ombré.

Pic 4: outfit for a casual dinner out. I bought these slouchy floral pants last Spring as Spring/Summer pants. They are lined and a little too heavy for daytime summer wear. Good for evenings out. Particularly that evening as the mozzies were out in force and I got bitten to pieces. I really wished I had worn my sneakers.

Pics 5-6: another casual dinner outfit. During the challenge I realised that I had no non-black solid coloured skirts. So I decided to convert an olive green ruched dress that I no longer wear into a skirt. This is the resulting skirt. It’s not very beachy but I am not very beachy. (Well, except for my hair, which is right at home at the beach.)

Pic 7: daytime outfit for lunch and some walking. I have shown this combination before. This is a more sporty version with sneakers. The sneakers are new. I have only just figured out that I prefer sneakers that don’t have laces and bows. And I need shorter socks.

Extras:

Pics 8-9: Ms B meeting a local at the beach. She is super fierce. (Naah, she is super sweet. It’s just play.)

Pic 10: for JAileen - a visiting sulphur-crested cockatoo. He would let me hand feed him but only when Ms B was indoors.

Even if you are not a beach gal, it looks like a great get away. Ms. B is beautiful....so great that she could join you! Your beach hair is beyond fab!

What beautiful pics :). I like those floral pants and the green tee. I would have those on high rotation. But I’m a beach bum.

Thanks ML and Jussie. It was a great break and we all enjoyed it. I love to walk on the beach and look at the beach. But DH enjoys swimming in the surf much more than I do.
We strapped Ms B into a life vest when we went swimming, because she insisted on coming too. It was quite an adventure for her. She has come home exhausted.

EVERYTHING about this post makes my heart happy. The beach, the sun, Ms. B on holiday, Ms. B frolicking with friends, your amazing outfits, gorgeous authentic Brooklyn style, fun beach hair, and quality family time. Going on holiday with your doggie is the best.

LOVE you in the floral pants. Very elegant. Mr. B is naturally stylish, and rocking her life vest. And fun frock conversion too.

Brooklyn, you look gorgeous. Maybe that is your reward for being so nice to Mr. B and doing the beach thing -- beautiful, glamorous, beachy wavy hair and a relaxed smile.

And no wonder! That is one gorgeous spot! Just lovely. Mrs. B looks like she is having so much fun!

You are a lovely wife going with your husband to the beach. I bet Ms B enjoyed it too. Your outfits are perfect, especially the shorts and hat! Is the cockatoo wild?

Years ago we had a labrador retriever. We took her to the beach as much as possible (we lived on the TX Gulf Coast). She loved it, of course. She also loved to roll in dead fish. Luckily we had a truck with a camper shell so we didn’t have to smell her on the way home. And then we had to bathe her so she didn’t stink to high heaven.

I love the beach and am so anxious every year to take our beach vacation. You look much more stylish than I generally do. Your sandals are fab and I like the sneakers with your skirt. The dogs look like they're having so much fun. I think I could technically take our dog, but it's a 12 hour drive and since we cross into Mexico there is some paperwork/veterinary requirements involved that I've never taken the time to sort out.

Thanks everyone! I didn't mean to make it sound like a hardship - going on beach vacation. Of course it wasn't! It was very relaxing. My preferred holiday venues are urban or country, but a holiday is a holiday is a holiday, and is always appreciated. And just look at those views. Plus there was lots of nice eating

Angie, I knew you would like the puppy dog pics! Ms B had a glorious time. We are fortunate that we have friends in the country who live on a sheep farm, so now she gets country and coastal getaways. Thanks for the K2K!

Rachy, I will take that as a compliment! I thought someone might comment on the wisdom of taking my Rebecca Minkoff bag to the beach. But if Angie can paint in pearls then I can beach walk in RM.

JAileen, thanks. Yes, the cockatoo is wild. I think he is used to being fed by visitors at the house. He had a partner too. And they were both quite tame. I think that cockatoos mate for life, so it was very sweet. Ms B once befriended a cockatoo in the wild and she was willing to do so again, but these 2 weren't interested. And funny how dogs enjoy rolling in stinky stuff, isn't it? Ms B did roll in the sand, but there was a hose at the entrance to the beach where we could hose her off at the end of a visit.

Sara, thanks. The quarantine restrictions are a pain here too. We have never taken a dog outside the country.

Smittie, thanks. I can imagine that these pics look good to those of you coming out of winter. Especially if you have had some -40 degree days. I cannot imagine those sort of temps.

Looks lovely Brooklyn and pleased that you all had a terrific break away. How great that Ms B could come too.

You look wonderful and relaxed!! And your ombre Havaianas (jandals to me) are perfect.

Pleased you are getting some use from the wide leg pants because they look good on.

It is changeable weather here now but I think over Easter I will put away my summer items....still warm but high summer gear is no longer feeling quite right.

I don’t think it matters what you’re wearing here, because you look so fantastically
laid-back and relaxed. Im not so big on beach vacations either, but my husband spent a good portion of his childhood in California, so we compromise.

I also prefer urban holidays but then something about the beach does do its magic when you get there. You look gorgeous as ever and Ms. B is certainly a fan! I like your beach hat too!

Thanks Shevia and Jenn. DH has been on his fair share of urban holidays with me, so I can't complain. And I think Ms B would vote for the beach!

Thanks Sally. We are having temps in the mid 20s. But much less sticky/humid and cooling down more at night. I love March and April.

Happy, happy, happy! You look fabulous! The floral pants are my favorite outfit and Mrs. B and friend playing my favorite photo.
I was not particularly happy with my beach capsule for Hawaii, but it worked and I wore almost everything I took.
DGS fell down a steep set of concrete and tile stairs minutes after we arrived and needed stitches above his eye. (His baby sister looked adorable in her bubble suits and sun hat.) Therefore no swimming or water play for almost all the time we were at the beach. I like to stroll on the sand and watch the wildlife ( sea turtles, whales and tide pool life, wind surfers and paddle boarders). JAileen we did see some birds, including endangered nearly extinct Hawaiian coots and Japanese white eyes (a little green finch that sang in the hibiscus outside the bedroom window).

You may not like the beach but it sure suits you! Glad you got to enjoy it with your pooch too. You look stunning in every pic!

Thanks Joy. Sorry about your DGS. Getting sick or injured on a holiday is a hassle. I went to Hawaii a few years back and really enjoyed it. Such a lovely place. My floral pants would enjoy a trip there. They are look a bit “resort wear” I think.

What a gorgeous beach. I love your outfits in 2 and 4 especially. Beachy Brooklyn and Botanical Brooklyn! I'm not so beachy myself, DH is much more so. I will swim in surf only a little bit. A nice beach town which also has some shops and some historic interest and some trashy novels available is our best compromise!

Jenni, thanks. I am the same. I’ll spend about 30-45 minutes swimming in the surf and have had enough for the day. But DH will stay in the surf all day. We sometimes go to Noosa. That has more to offer me because it has shops and a cinema and a gym and scenic bush walks. Plus the beach for DH. But we can’t take the puppy dog. So this was better.

Brooklyn, you lucky fish. Coastal and country holidays with doggies are equally fab. Sam's pint size - 6 pounds - but can do a 3 hour hike on treacherous terrain with the best of them. He's much fitter then us!
