I remember reading in a teen magazine when I was young that if you're not sure what to wear, or when you should update your haircut or whatever, you should assign yourself a celebrity twin. Then you can pull ideas from their clothing, copy their hairstyles, etc. I feel like it's not a bad plan if you have no idea where to start, although at some point I hope you'd branch out into something that's your own. But I also find that assigning an imaginary twin to fellow fabbers helps me when I'm trying to determine what might be flattering for someone with a completely different skin tone/hair color/body type than my own. Or someone who has a personal style that I don't easily wrap my brain around. So for example, person X asks what color dress they should choose, and I remember that their celebrity twin looks smashing in red, but washed out in green. I recommend the red dress. Of course I first try to remember what's nice on that individual fabber and what their preferences are, but sometimes I just don't have enough material to work with from previous WIWs.
So this set me wondering, does anyone else sort mentally assign people a celebrity look-alike or use a celebrity look-alike for themselves? And does anyone mind being told they resemble a celebrity? (I currently have a Judy Dench, Kim Kardashian, Christina Hendricks, Angie Harmon, and a mulittude of others on file.)
