Ask Angie: Is this really my body type?

Angie,
Hey! I'm new to the website and had posted some pictures under body type but it was recommended that I post photos that didn't have cap sleeves as it may have been influencing how my body type was determined. Before I posted a few other pictures everyone was saying I was an Inverted Triangle with rectangle tendencies (what are those tendencies?) but am not sure it will still be the same with the new pics that don't have cap sleeves. I just need confirmation if you don't mind taking a peek. Thanks!

Hi, Raelou;
You didn't highlight to the end, so your link didn't work here. I saw your new pics with the long sleeves on your old post, however. I think everyone's consensus is that you are an IT with a Racy Rectangle as a secondary. What this means is that many of us are a combination of body types, including one type from the front, and another when viewed profile. Thus, if one's goal is to dress for figure flattery, it is good to read the tips for both types.

And do note that K appears to be your body double so check out her WIWs. I can't believe that her shoulder size is two sizes bigger than her hip size, but then she really knows how to dress her body.

***DonnaF*** I'm blushing! Really! It is nice to know that the way I dress hides my linebacker shoulders so well. I actually measured them after Peri posted that she may be the most IT of ITs out there and I even surprised myself--we'll just say I've got some serious shoulders and leave it at that!

Raelou, I looked again and I still think you and I have very very similar body shapes, so I would still say you are an IT with rectangle tendencies. The outside measurement of your shoulders looks to be wider than your hips. Pictures can be more informative than measurements for this because they flatten out the horizontal lines. That way the fact that you have a nice round rear view (like I wish I had!) doesn't throw off your objective assessment.

Hopefully Angie will weigh in too, though, since I learn tons from her comments!

ETA: the disproportion with my shoulders is more obvious in this outfit post than most. Even with a little extra bulk in the hips due to the front-tuck, you can see that my shoulders are quite wide even though my hips are slender in comparison.
