Dear Fabbers,
I wonder whether shoes like these are still current or do they look dated?
I cannot figure from which period they could be....
I like the chunky flared heels and the almost square wide shape, but I have not seen any such style in any collections now, hence my question.
What do you guys think?

I have some Zara booties from dec 2017 almost the same (color and patent:-)) with the same heel and toe shape. I still love them, wore them proud this winter, too-and hope will feel like wearing them many other seasons to come!

I like them - and would wear them for work in a dressier place then I work now.

I don't think they look dated - I think the blocky heel makes them current with a retro touch. I'm not good on current things though so take that with a grain of salt!

Thank you all for responding. I have found a pair like this in a designer outlet and I am tempted. The heels are exactly the height I like and I think they would work with wide leg trousers or bootcuts.

I think they are very current! They have exactly that 90s vibe that is right back in right now, with the chunky heel and square toe.

I wear shoes almost exactly like this to work all the time = business/professional environment. I wear them with pants, dresses and skirts.

I think they look very now - the more trapezoidal shape of the heel looks current, compared to the straighter block heel of the 90s. The shoes below are a pair of brown pumps I wore in the 90s in my corporate life that I updated with burgundy Tarrago leather paint a year or so ago. https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....oe-dye-diy They work but definitely don't look as fresh as the one you posted.

I like these shoes very much and have some Paul Green pumps and boots with similar block heels. The block heels are a bit retro being 90's influenced, but given lots of things from the 90's are back (ribbed knits), then I think they look current. The real bonus is that the block heel is very comfortable.

They look 90s to me, which means they look current depending on how you style them! The shiny finish is pretty.

Bijou, your shoes are so pretty. I love the suede pumps - elegant, yet comfy. And the boots are just SUPER.

Shevia, these are Escada. I don’t think they are actually from the 90s, because this outlet does sell out collections from the previous season and older seasons, but not that old. Normally, the items are from between two and five years back. These, however, I am not sure.... They look 90s inspired.

I love those, think the curve in the heel is super. The way you plan to wear them sounds perfect--and you actually wear those things, so the shoes wouldn't be for a fantasy life.

But whether or not they are "current" is a different question. I have no idea.

I remember one of our fancier shoe companies here showing a lot of heels exactly like this a couple of years ago maybe? They could be 2 years old. I think plenty current enough and they will be lovely on you. If I could find any pics I will post them for you- not sure (as probably already off their website as sold out). They called it the flared heel.

They may be even less than 2 years. Some more on sale than others, they may be older.

I like them Katerina and vote for burgundy very versatile believe me. Maybe the reason is that I like burgundy especially patent.

To me , it's less about how current they may or may not be , and more about your affinity for that particular look. They do have that retro Prada/Miu Miu look, and now that you mention the Escada name ....it makes sense. Not my cup of tea personally, but they absolutely work with your ladylike retro European style. Shoes seem to be all over the place right now - anything goes if you want it to.

Gorgeous!!! Love the color! I agree with Lisa P in that current depends more or less on how your wear them, as well as your style and taste. They remind me very much of Prada/Escada. In fact, last two years I saw this style of shoe in velvet and worn frequently with cropped flares, skirts, and dresses. Very trendy and fun!
