Caro, thanks you are one wise woman. I tend to focus on the garment as opposed to the wearer and I forget the the wearer is a major factor in the outcome.
Lantana that's a very good analogy. And you are right. I suppose if something is new, exciting and pushing the boundaries, it's kind of a short term thing before it become old, tired and the norm.
Fuzzylogic, so true.
Angie, yes what you say makes total sense. I am reminded that its the styling that makes or breaks a look and is what makes the look 'the look'. One of the things that kind of saddens me is when I see what I consider to be an Avant Garde garment worn in away that doesn't highlight it's uniqueness and design.
Gaylene, perceptions are so varied aren't they. And certainly what I think is AG someone else may not.
Gryffin, I am enjoying this conversation. I love hearing everyone's thoughts. And suspect I will give this all further thought.
Lyn I think feeling authentic in an outfit is key. There is definitely a strong connection between our 'selves' and our 'outfits'.
Rachy good point. And I would agree that the AG pieces I see in the Department stores or styled in a way that conforms to current 'trends'.
Suz, I thought this might a conversation of interest to you. Like you it's difficult to define what it is about some AG styling that I find so appealing. I just know what i like when I see it.
Peri, that's clever and I certainly had not thought of it this way.
Mia, this is a great place for conversation
