Should I keep this Burberry trench or let it go? It is oversized in that I can wear a knit & a heavy jacket with it & do it up so it is as heavy as I need in my climate.

These are the pieces I have most trouble with - I still love it but not sure if I love it for me. It doesn't owe me anything in that I wore it travelling & to & from work for about 7 years. It still looks new too

Caro it still looks very nice on you. I love the colour. This looks to me to be a very classic style so part of me says keep and wear occasionally. However the other side of me says that is not necessarily in keeping with your overal current style. I realise I am no help. This may be sacrilege, given it's a Burberry, but I wonder if shortening it might give it new life. It looks too long to wear over pants but you do seem to wear mostly trousers. What do you think?

I love it Caro. What don't you like about it? If it is kength as Deborah mentioned getting it shortened is an option. I am not a hoarder but I think this is something you should keep. Oneday you mihr pull it out & love it again. Unless you wanted to sell it t use the money for something you really want.

Thanks Deborah - I have thought about shortening it but it is very big all over so may look even boxier if shorter. It is very oversized compared with current cuts.

That is a good point. It really looks like it was designed to be worn done up and belted... not open. I do hope Angie drops by as I would like to hear what she thinks.

Thanks Elle. Why don't I wear it? Maybe Deborah is right - I wear pants rather than skirts/dresses & it looks better with a skirt or dress, I'm not sure.

I love it on you, Caro. I hope Angie weighs in, but she might be busy today.

I do agree that maybe the length stops you from wearing it to a degree, since it looks best with dresses and you now wear mostly pants. Still....

It might also be that you aim for a more arty look, and this is such a classic. So the trick is finding a way to wear it so it feels current to you. Alas, I have no suggestions about that, but I suspect your pinboards might give some inspiration.

I love it done up! With the pants as well as bare legs. Would it help you wear it more to shorten it a touch?

It does seem a bit oversized, Caro, but oversized is apparently where the trend is headed. And you love it, which counts for a lot.

I guess I'd hesitate to get rid of such a classic piece....but I might try to get it shortened. Shortening it might help mitigate the oversized look, IMHO.

If it is too big for your taste or style, can you have it altered and taken in? With such a classic, high quality coat, that makes more sense to me than getting rid of it, unless it is no particular issue for you to buy another. A trench is something that may not fit my style for a while and I may not wear for a while, but I usually end up coming back to it. In the case of a coat like this, it can literally be a forever piece, even if you go through periods where it doesn't suit you as much.

I love it on you....it is a little oversized, but I share your concern about box-ifing it if it is shortened

I thought the pics were showing two different coats at first. LOL I like it best in pic #4. I think I like it because you wrapped it tighter so it doesn't look as over-sized.

Yes I do feel good in it I'm just not sure about how it looks on me, it adds bulk for sure which I don't need I'm working on just having 10s in my wardrobe so want to start replacing the lesser items.
