I think you could pull them off in a sort of ironic way. They are still very popular where I live, due to the Western look and ag nature of my community. My boyfriend's 15 year old daughter likes them, wears them. It's the Miss Me/Rock Revival look that True Religion pioneered, but now TR is getting away from it (although they still do the big triple T stitching). People tend to have a love-hate relationship with this look. As is evident from these comments.

Whereas I used to be so concerned with is it in, or is it out, I feel very different about trends now. It's what Maneera said. Why not embrace the anything-goes nature of fashion and put your own unique spin on it? I think wearing these, then styling them in your cool slouchy way ( the girls who wear them here wear them 2 sizes small so styling them slouchy would make them different to begin with), would be fun. It would spur a reaction of, look who's wearing this Cowboy bling butt staple and turning the look on its head.

I would NOT wear them with cowboy boots or a tight tank top. I would wear them with rugged footwear or Cons, a puddled hem, and maybe some Grunge accents like plaid shirt and or beanie. For a sort of Grunge-Meets-Gun&Truck combo look.

Denise, you've nailed not only how I would wear them but what I was wearing when I tried them on. It's both normcore and ironic, but labels aside, it's pretty much me on a casual weekend. I am always in booties and a beanie and usually some kind of slouchy top. In this case I'd need to do a reverse half-tuck, with the back tucked in to show pockets and the front hanging out.

I like these ones. I just love flaps on the back pockets in general though. I also like that the embroidery is more geometric than curly-swirly...
I personally don't like rhinstones, but that's just a thing I have.
think if they were dark denim with light top stitching, I'd pass, because then it becomes too much.

I hope you keep them Una particularly if they fit well. LOL at the reverse half tuck. I recall Helmut Lang and Free People both have made tops which are longer in front than back.

As I was boxing up my Marc Fisher Acne knock off booties for return, it also occurred to me that a pointy toe rocker boot plus sunglasses and leather moto would be a fun 80s power band way to wear them.

I think you can pull them off and if you love them and they fit really well, why not? I do see the blingy butt thing here a lot in rural Texas - sometimes it works, sometimes not so much. I think the overall outfit makes the statement more than just the jeans and I like flap pockets for myself - and the idea of the reverse tuck to showcase them could be fun.

I just got 'round to reading CocoLion's response, and ITA! You can definitely pull these off!

I see them all the time here in Nerdbasket Nebraska, which gives me pause but I have a poison eye for them. They are still big among the rodeo chicks and tweeners who buy their clothing at The Buckle. But if you like them, rock them with intentionality and wear them with pride; not everyone can pull off this look with a ferocious "you looking at me?" voice.

You are someone who can rock just about anything.
My philosophy is if I like it I wear it. I can't always keep up with trends and some of them don't suit me. A blingy butt would not be a good idea on me. But if you like the jeans and want a blingy butt then go for it.
I have not seen anyone wear blingy butt jeans around here but that means absolutely nothing.

I saw three people wearing these today. I live in ranch country, though, so do with that what you will.

I can't not chime in here. I'm with Suz . Poison eye . I do find them quite dated but realize they still have an appeal to a certain segment of the market....which I wouldn't have thought of for you....just say no.

Mmm I vote go with your feel on this; it's not like you're going to style these in any of the ways most people associate with this style (Denise has some great styling ideas!). Ruggedly Sparkly sounds like a fab weekend identity to me

while i love me some bling....not on the behind...lol....although i dont have that kind of body...enough said

i think worn with a fitted black top of some sort and black or gray boots may be fine for a girls night out...other than that, not so sure....

that being said, they are cool jeans!! and, i was at The Buckle just this weekend (shopping for 13 DD) and that store is just full of butt bling...so, rock on...

I say if you like it go for it. As others have said, it is what you wear it with that will ensure it looks cool and not cougar.

Blingy butt is sort of beyond good and evil in my universe.

Keep! I love the wash on these. I would not worry about the bling.

Keep. They look great on you!

I guess I should have taken an all important back view pic!

The fit is awesome, but we need a picture of the butt

Keep! The fit is awesome. No way can these look dated when worn like THAT!

I do have some similar jeans (Silver skinny boyfriends), and I don't know that I've worn them in the past year. But I am keeping them, because I'm thinking I may be in the mood to wear them occasionally. Mine are slouchy and comfy, and definitely not the most flattering jeans I own.
I agree with Denise's comment. I think you will wear them well and not like you're trying to keep up with any dubious trend.

Yes, Sharan - I love yours and find them cool and RATE.

I haven't read all of the responses, but I will say that I have a sugar eye for blingy pockets. I love these. I also see them around here quite a bit (Minnesota). I don't consider them dated at all. I associate them with a bit of a rocker vibe and as something that is outside of trends.

The front view is great. Like the way you have styled them. But as you have already said we can't see the back view.

Not many people wear a "blingy butt" jeans anymore! They look too much for the day, but can be good if you want to go clubbing in them!

I have a flat butt so totally understand how you would find them to work. I agree that we are in a point in fashion where anything goes and you obviously like them a fair bit. Why not wear them? You have them, you like them, they fit you well and work for your life. I am sure you don't plan to wear them to work so what the heck.

This is a complicated question, isn't it...so many factors to consider when deciding what's current or not, and sometimes a certain pair combines more-current with less-current features. The flares I just bought have conspicuous butt stitching (hubs calls it "cake frosting"), but the place I got them sells both Silver and Vigoss, so you know they're into that. I don't have a lot of choice in flares that fit, so butt frosting it is. And I'm OK with it. (However, as current as flares are, the store doesn't carry many on the premises, which suggests to me that the customer doesn't "know" they're current and is still buying lots of jeggings and whatnot. This gets into the whole question of what a "trend" is--is it a real trend driven by buyer taste, or is it an artificial dictate steered by what the fashion industry wants to sell us next? Anyway.)

My jeans have no actual "bling" (none of mine do), though I wouldn't have minded that much if they had included a few small rhinestones. I myself would draw the line at sharp, rough, or anything that stood out too much. And, I feel like pocket flaps are not as current as they once were (though I know that some ladies continue to really like them), but I also feel like making less-perfectly-current things work is actually pretty fashionable. But I have a serious butt and pocket flaps are not a good look on me, so I don't have to think about that part.

I've definitely seen some dated-looking butt-frosted jeans out there, but I do think it is possible to rock many items if datedness doesn't extend to too many of the features.

OK, I like them better on you than in that stock photo. The stock photo kind of made me go "ew." But the wash reads much nicer in your photo -- not so terribly high contrast with the stitching, etc.

Bottom line, wear what you love. You look awesome in the kind of jeans and pants I only wish I could wear. I am hating dressing my bottom half these days (I'm kind of hating dressing myself at all right now, but it's a warm and humid day here, and I'm OVER IT), and I'm ready to bore myself to tears with my never-ending stream of dark, subdued, non-eye-catching pants and bottoms, so I say if you like it and you look great in it (which you do!), rock on.

They look so good on you! They really sculpt your legs. I'm tempted to get a pair myself now...
and Google ad software keeps reminding me that I need a pair since I clicked on your link yesterday!

Hahaha, yes! I do have a pair of blingy-butt jeans. They're skulls. In or not, I cannot resist the thought of having skulls on my behind. It never occured to me to question whether they are 'in' or not, or whether I am cool enough to wear them.

I'm pretty sure that me, wearing blingy-butt jeans, is about the 'cool' equivalent of Louis C.K. wearing blingy-butt jeans.

They make me laugh every time I put them, and I get a lot of laughs and compliments on them. I imagine I also get lots of looking-away-and-shaking-of-heads as well, but I never actually see it happening, so...

Photos:
#1 - My blingy butt jeans. I am sparing you a photo of what my butt actually looks like in them. You're welcome.

#2 - Louis C.K., aka, my spirit animal.

Una, I love those jeans on you! The pattern in the stock photo makes me think of Art Nouveau/Art Deco, which is a weakness of mine.

Firecracker and Suzanne, y'all look awesome in your blingy-butts!
