April no solid navy challenge failed

I am admitting defeat. I have very busy and long 12+ hours work day in front of me, I just want to wear something comfortable. And being that time of month I also don’t feel like wearing light color bottoms. So very strechy ponte navy pants it is.
It is also bring your daughter to work day, it is initiative to make girls more interested in STEM, especially robotics and nuclear field. Will see how that goes LOL, she still has not decided what she will study, 2 more years to go before university.

It’s not a failure you learned that you need some dark colour in your wardrobe even if it’s not your favourite. Well done on trying I don’t know how fabbers have the imagination and dedication to set themselves challenges i really admire everyone who does no matter what the challenge or the outcome.

Very nice silhouette and color combination! You look very well. I would not call this a defeat but a temporary exception to the rule. I am curious, do you wear sneakers at work or just for the commute?

My 2nd daughter decided that year, when she was 16, what she might like to study 1.5 years later. She chose Food Technology and is now 30 having done a 4-year degree, worked for 8 years, and is now doing a Masters in the same field. So not knowing until then didn’t matter!
You look good and I wouldn’t regard the challenge as a fail!

LOL Anchie, it seems just right for me-navy in general is a great color for spring, better than black, for sure!-so if it wasn't your challenge this is a great work outfit in your field! The white top and snakes+ the lightly textured and lighter shade blazer do make a great difference for freshenning up a darker work outfit!
FYI I started in STEM, too:-)--didn't know what exactly to do at that time (finished high school in 1986) but have always been good in exact sciences-and decided only in the last year what college to go--got an MS but unfortunately never worked in my choosen field (mechatronics)---then later did 2yrs postgraduate for an MA in economy- so here I am still doing good enough for this very very hard living times.
Our DD(26) at 17yrs didn't know either decided in her last year of the high school only-started with a BS in psychology but then, she was very prompt on switching to medical school (she did have to apply again and pass a completely other kind of admission exam) -so started her freshman year 3 yrs older than her peers- and is now in her last but one year at the university (medical school is 6yrs- here). Surely, it's not easy to sustain a child 9 yrs in college (we hopefully have 1 more year only to go:-)) for any reason but she was always exceptional in her results and is really so much happier now with her choosen life proffesion-so, we are, too!:-)

I consider the experiment a lesson learned, not necessarily a fail. You learned that while you may not want a LOT of navy, maybe keep a few essential pieces to call on as needed. You look great, and ready for a busy day.

No failures on my screen! Simply a change of priorities, which is a good thing! We have to be flexible in life.

You are short on bottoms that fit comfortably at the moment - so it makes sense that you want to wear these. Good classic!

Any darker color would have worked for this, so don’t consider this a fail, just helpful learning for when you are reworking your mix of pieces as you wear things out.

Navy works for your colouring/hair colour - so being ‘off’ navy is a personal preference only, in my opinion. You’ve learned something from the challenge - which is that you ‘need’ navy - in small doses, for the life you lead. The take-away: it might not be your favourite colour at the moment, but it serves a purpose - especially for work occasions.

Keep the navy items that have worked for you this month (the jacket, the pants) but no need to add more.

For most of us there are practical considerations around our bodies and lifestyle and workplace. I certainly don’t wear white or light colours some days of the month either.

Not a challenge failure at all - you learned that navy, or at least an easy piece in a dark color, does have its place in your wardrobe.

Fun fact: I was working at the Ms. Foundation when they invented Take your daughter to work day .

I love the mix of tones—white, navy, tweed. Very artistic; very intentional. Life is not absolute. We all need a few dark colors in our wardrobes!

Snazzy sneakers, and those pants seem great. Is this a specific STEM initiative, or just Take Your Daughter to Work in general? I know three women off the top of my head who did STEM--my mother almost got her PhD in econ, my cousin majored in computer science, and a friend did bioengineering. All these women naturally gravitated towards it. I'm actually ignorant to the reasons to bring more women into STEM. Is it to get more women high-paying jobs? To bring more diversity of life experience into these fields? I really don't know.

Weekend finally!!
You are all right, dark essentials are necessity, I was just thinking that jeans can cover that need, but jeans are also not always the best choice. Staying flexible. I found this challenge very useful. And Angie is also right, I am very low on comfortable bottoms. I discovered that I am currently not feeling most of my wardrobe and that I would rather constantly repeat few items that I love than wear items that I don’t just for the sake of variety.

Jamie - how interesting! I had no idea. Have you worked there for long?

Carol - there are not enough women in STEM, which is a shame. Organization where I work is trying to have more gender balance but have difficulty finding female candidates. When I was in university, ratio was 1 girl to 10 boys, and I don’t think it is much better now.

Dark bottoms are definitely essential, not just for moon time, but rainy/muddy days! Not a fail at all
