Anyone have trouble wearing an item too much?

I am trying really hard not to wear the Gidigio boots every day. They basically go with everything I wear, so it's a challenge to style around my other boots. And I do love my other boots! Would it be possible to have a closet full of pieces like this? That's my dream now.

I do have stuff like that. My 50/50 boots, a polka dot sweater, several of my bags, etc . I think it is possible to have a closet like that, one needs discipline in purchasing and letting go of what is no longer a happy item.

I have worn my boots almost every day this winter. Love them; wouldn't change it for the world.

I'm terrible for this, especially in winter. And I usually resort to the pieces that are that elusive combination of easy and stylish. Mid calf moto boots, because they are so easy to take on and off, Mother jeans because they are so comfortable, equipment blouse or j crew cashmere sweatshirt. Totally my uniform. And I have to force myself to switch out from my black bag with shoulder strap so I don't wear it out.

I don't, but I'm not so sure it's a problem! I think the idea of a whole closet of things you never want to take off is awesome.

I get on kicks wearing the same pieces over and over. I have a ton of clothes anyway, but usually I go for the easiest too. I would love for every piece to be a loved piece too, that would make it even better.

I know what you mean, but I wouldn't call it a problem. I think it is bliss. It does take a little more effort to break yourself of the joyful routine of wearing something you love. However, we do it all the time when we find a great winter jacket and nobody says anything, right?

I think it is ideal when you find something you love that much. What it says is that you've found something that is perfectly in harmony with your core style. Your wardrobe works perfectly with it because it expresses exactly what you've been trying to express sartorially. You are in sartorial nirvana, my friend. Enjoy!

I feel that way about my SE python petty booties, wanting to wear them everyday. They are warm with socks, comfortable 8 hour shoes and seen to go with everything. The Gap chunky knit pullover sweaters are also in this category on cold days.

Oh, yeah. My fuchsia knit jacket hit that spot in the fall. I suspect my new leather jacket will be similar. It's a GOOD thing. When ALL your items are this well loved....well...you'll know you have learned a bunch of really good stuff!

I try to spread the love around. If I feel like I'm leaning too heavily on a piece, I make myself choose something else. My closet is too full to keep reaching for one item to the exclusion of others.

I do this too, but sometimes it's due to infatuation with the latest new shiny happy addition. But I do have favored older items I continually return to.

I'm like Janet, I generally force myself to spread the love around I don't think it's a problem, except for maybe that those boots might wear out too fast!

I do this mostly with outerwear and shoes/boots - while I have plenty of options, there are always pieces that I keep wearing over and over again over certain period of time. For example, I have 5 knee-length wool coats, but the tweedy Mackage one gets worn about 90% of the time. A closet full of pieces like that would certainly be a dream come true!

If you are a minimalist, that's not considered a problem, that's just reality! I wear one of two weatherproof boots every day - my NAS Blondos or LC ankle boots.

Gidigios, Rockport engineer boots, blue Lulu jacket, cheapo pullover crewneck sweater from the Rack, slouchy camo pants... I don't think it's a problem, though. As I find more of these types of pieces, they become the grand standard against which I measure everything else, and then I buy more stuff that works. When I'm not checked out of life these days, it's great to look in the closet and see something precious to me that really inspires me to build an outfit around it - even if it may not go WITH everything, I'm liking that a lot more things can go WITH ME anywhere.

I don't think it is a problem and all and I think you should use those boots as a benchmark to measure the rest of your closet and potential closet - is it up to the standard of my Gidigio boots? Tricks like that really help me narrow things down.

I love having a small wardrobe of frequently worn pieces. To me it projects confidence! That would be a side benefit, of course, of feeling comfortable and fab within myself.

This winter it's been my black dress boots. They go with everything, they have a heel and they're comfortable, they're not fancy but have a squared style with some topstitching that makes them slightly funky. I have to force myself not to wear them everyday!

Yes! My Madewell Almanac boots. They don't go with everything I wear, so a lot of my wardrobe is just not getting worn. I don't really see that as a problem though, as long as I give my feet a rest every now and then.

I'm much happier in them than anything else and I think that's most important

oh yeah, I am loving my naturalizer booties with a little fake fur folded edge. They are warm, comfy, elegant and oh a little sexy. But my other booties are jealous

Have had my SE Petty booties for two weeks now and I have been using them as my starting point when picking out outfits!

It got up to 80 F today but I used the excuse of the mall A/C to justify wearing them, LOL!
