I wear printed tights all the time and suggest the same as Elisabeth and Zapotee. I often try to match something in the pattern of the tights to the pattern in the outfit if the color isn't a match. If the color is a match, then I go a little wilder with the pattern. I've found that the patterns I get the most wear from a ribbed or subtly textured. However, an argyle type one in black has been a surprise favorite of mine too.
When the weather cools down this week, I'm busting out a new outfit with a bold tight. I'm going to wear a navy dot shift dress with mustard yellow tights, black shoes and a bright blue cardigan. I saw the combo in Boden and it looked fantastic. Wish me luck and look for it as a WIW later this week!
