So it's hot summer here in Australia, 98f today and yesterday was hotter. I am living in my loose dresses, but am really feeling uncomfortable around the thighs and want some underwear to wear under the dresses.
I tried one pair on in target, but with my long rise, think I need a higher waisted option.
Basically I am looking for recommendations that you have worn that are not too pricy (under 50) and are higher waisted, and that are able to be worn in really hot weather.

My two shorts for hot vacation places are from Athleta ( 2014 or so ) and still holding on. There are a few new ones this year that have good reviews

Thanks slimcat , I have realised I wasn't clear as I am looking for underwear to wear under dresses. I will change my initial post.
Though actually, outerwear shorts are also items I am very low on, so your link could be useful.

My DMIL asked me what I did about chafing but my thighs do not touch. She uses baby powder.

After fighting with the jockey slip shorts for years, I’ve been really happy with the ones from Snag. They’re like hosiery that’s just cut off and hemmed above the knee.

I have had really good results with this gel. Better for me than body glide which feels stickier. A tiny dab of this dries almost instantly to a smooth slick surface. I have super sensitive skin and in heat /humidity I can get terrible rashes from chafing from even my socks, bra bands, etc.

I like the Jockey Skimmies too. They have them in this shorter length or longer. The shorter length works fine for me. I live in the southern US and the humidity here is a pain.

Yes, another vote for a balm of some sort. I was going to recommend Monistat, but it appears to not be available in Australia

I love the Jockey Skimmies, but last year I tried Mega Babe Thigh Rescue and I've never looked back! I walk literally miles and miles each day, and have no problem since I started using this....even in the hottest weather!

hereforthecake - the reviews of that are so positive - and they ship to Australia. I think I'll try it. I have used bodyglide before, but can't honestly remember how well it worked. I've been using vaseline on my feet before long runs, but not sure if I've tried it for my thighs.

Late to this but I also use Jockey skimmies but would love to find a balm that works. I wasn't crazy about Body Glide, it seemed to just add stickiness but the Monistat and Mega Babe ones might be worth a try. Not that I need it right now though!

While browsing the Uniqlo site I saw Airism Petti Pants in 2 lengths, shorts and cropped. I have some airism camis and tees which I like. Not sure if they are available in Australia.

I do use BodyGlide as well but in the past had baby cornstarch diaper lotion and that worked well. Easier to apply than a powder, I think, and possibly cheaper and more easily available than BodyGlide. It does have a powdery finish so you have to wash your hands after, BodyGlide is more convenient in that respect.
I have Thigh Society comfort shorts. They are decent enough.

I ama huge fan of Jockey Skinnies- have them in every color for Chicago summers. Never considered a balm before, though. My issue is that clothes stick to the back of my thighs. I hate standing up and pulling my skirt away with a tug. So ladylike!

Update : after this thread, I thought more about what I wanted, and decided I really don't like the feeling of my thighs touching, even when not chafing. So I decided to order the Snag shorts Jenni recommended.

I delayed reporting until I had a chance to try them in hot weather, which we've been having, and I am really happy with them. I completely affirm everything Jenni said. They make car trips in my hot car more bearable.
I bought two, and have washed them in the bathroom basin. Very happy with them.

Yay! I'm glad they worked. The only issue I've had with mine is that the bottom hem has come unstitched on some. I'm not really bothered by it, as they don't fray and no one sees them anyway. I do wash mine with the normal laundry, so you might not have the same problem hand-washing them.
