Thanks for the input, everyone! As I expected, it’s not a slam dunk in forum consensus.
I quite like the colors, since as Suz points out, it can sometimes be a little tiring to restrict one’s color palette too strictly. I confess I looked at a blue patterned dress and knew the colors were right for me but (along with other factors), the idea of yet another blue print dress was feeling a little same-as-it-ever-was.
However, I do struggle a bit with any print that is not grounded with a bit of black or white. Footwear is not a really easy choice with this dress. My metallic sandal collection is not what it once was, since last year I added fisherman sandals in black and white and retired some old worn out metallics. Below are the shoes I’d try with this. I think the Ancient Greek Sandals mixed-metal flat sandals may be the best fit.
As for the vibe, I don’t mind a bit of boho, especially in summer. I’ve been pretty happy in boho print dresses as long as they are a bold pattern and not ditsy, not overly embellished, and have some fit and structure in the waist/bodice. Kind of like my long sleeved Anthro dress below. It’s not so easy to find casual dresses that have a little bit of fit through the waist, and I don’t wear straight cuts well at all.
No firm decisions yet. I want to show Jamie too, before he leaves on a trip, and we have a busy day today. I really appreciate the feedback! Even when I don’t necessarily always agree with others’ assessments (positive or negative!), they always help me consider all the angles.
