Just wrapping up a short trip to Pittsburgh (somewhat random destination) to celebrate my mother’s 85th birthday and this is what I wore:
1. On the plane—New-to-me 80s skirt, some random old T-shirt, dark green Target hoodie, bronze Dansko flats.
2. To visit Fallingwater and another Frank Lloyd Wright house out in the countryside—seashell dress, ancient cardigan, sneakers.
3. To birthday dinner, where I had planned to wear the same seashell dress with the bronze shoes, but my mother was weirdly bent out of shape that I didn’t change for the restaurant.
4. To tour a blast furnace site (this was surprisingly fun!) and go to a very long play. I wore the sneakers for the furnace site, which probably looked terrible but I wasn’t really thinking. Skirt some Greek brand I forget, very ancient knit top, lapis and macrame necklace from Maine.
5. To the Andy Warhol museum and walking around some neighborhoods—thrifted Chicos skirt, Gap T-shirt, Clark’s sandals
6. To a history museum and Chinese restaurant—random thrifted skirt, shirt from the blast furnace site (I did not need any more T-shirts but I thought it was so cool).
7. Back to the same vintage skirt today to visit a botanical garden and (we hope) a reportedly beautiful synagogue where a relative we hadn’t known about during their lives was the wife of the late rabbi, and fly home.
