Another day, another skirt (this one, like the long cream one, is from J Petermann Company, a favorite of Elaine on Seinfeld), another proportion question. Shirt tucked or not: what do you think? It has elastic along the bottom, like a sweater.

I’m still reeling from Synne’s comment that I’m the most femme person on here, at least in terms of dressing. Not how I think of myself, but here I am in heels & a skirt, with a full complement of jewelry, for my mom’s birthday.

I thought for sure that I would prefer tucked because skirts always look better with a shorter top, but after seeing the photos I can't decide! I can say that I love the monochrome long-line look with the skirt, tights, and shoes! And your top picks up the colors of the cardigan and skirt perfectly making my matchy-matchy loving heart sing!

Lucy, first feminine, now matchy-matchy: today seems to be the day for me to learn things about myself I never would’ve said, but are obvious when I pay attention. Looking at #4, there is no way I can deny the matchy-match. Even my lips and eyes get in on it!

no help here because I think tucked or untucked both work -- depends on what feels best to you IMO. And not only did Elaine meet Peterman, she worked for the company, even filling in as CEO for a while. (Not surprisingly, that didn't go very well....) LOL

CarolS, then Bijou was on the money when she said my outfit, with blouse & skirt from that company, reminded her of that character.

Rachylou, I think the shoes are my one spot of punk/harajuku/rebellion in this outfit, by being overly proper & Edwardian/steampunk.

I prefer untucked just because it looks a bit more relaxed and casual. But tucked works too and has that extra flattery factor going for it.

I voted yay because I like the proportions better tucked, but I agree that both work, and if it were be, I'd probably wear untucked for the unfussiness of it.

Jenn, I wore it tucked in, but only because I got dressed in a hurry & forgot about the welt. When I came home & remembered it, I liked the untucked better. At least I think I do. You guys are probably right that it doesn’t matter much.

Nikki, that’s funny—in my Catholic school, girls weren’t permitted to tuck shirts into pants. We had to wear them “tunic” style, with or without a belt. Thanks for the good wishes!

Thanks Suntiger. I almost didn’t post it, thought people might be sick of the bike. But it is a factor in what I wear, as I learned with the long off-white skirt. Knotting the hem did work, but then I have to tie & untie it all day. The name change, idk, Bernard called me that & I though “ohh, fancy French name for me!” I don’t know French, so I’m a little silly about assuming that it’s classier.

Slight preference for tucked, and agreeing with Synne that you incorporate a lot of ingenue-type (traditionally girlish, I guess) elements into your outfits.
