Angie predicted that I will come around for midi length and of course she was right! I have bought not one but 2 midi length skirts in the consignment stores last weekend.
I have got them back altered from my mom and I LOVE the results. I hope you like them too!
pic 1-2 Jessica Howard giant polka dot skirt. It was more than a size big but how could I bypass this skirt, really! pic 1 shows it before alterations and pic 2 after. As you see it sits on my natural waist after the alteration which I really like. I also let down about 1" in length so it is just pass my knee. I am not sure if it is considered midi or not but it is covering my knees and I like that. The fabric is a bit stiff and it has pleats around so it has some 50s effect I think. It also has a bit of shine to it like taffeta so I can use it as a dressy skirt for going out but I also hope to be able to dress it down for work (the shine is very subtle)
pic 3-4 Spanner striped skirt. The picture does not do it justice. It is a black semi-sheer fabric with some very tiny and a bit wider silver stripes through it. The fabric has some very subtle iridescence to it, again to too much so I hope it can be dressed up and down and worn to work. The bottom part is black matte lace trimmed with velvet ribbon so this skirt has several textures in it. It was a bit too wide from the hips (pic 3) so my mom took it in a bit on the sides and in the waist so it sits on my natural waist now (pic 4)
I am sorry all "after" pictures are taken indoors but it was raining and pretty dark when I got home tonight I hope those "before" pictures I took yesterday have you better view of those skirts.
Just wanted to share my joy!
