I really enjoyed this challenge, because it made me very mindful, getting dressed this week, to “dress my truth”, as it were.

Generally when I dress, I choose colors from my own palette, that I put together from David Zyla.

I also try to stick to these general themes:

Mermaid/Siren/Ocean Colors
Retro Bombshell
Film Noir
Fetish Lite

And I try to keep things minimalist.

I forgot to take pictures on a couple of days, so I’m including a few recent WIWs taken earlier in February, that I will repeat soon.

#1-2 Tuesday: I videotaped an audition. This type of outfit is my go-to outfit for most auditions, and to wear out and about if I’m doing something casual, or to an informal music gig.

It’s “me” because it’s minimal-ish, in my color palette, easy to move in, but commands an audience in a smaller setting.

#3-6 Wednesday: I wore this to run errands and then attend an open mic jazz jam. I switched to black fishnets and stilettos for the open mic.

It’s me because it’s got the mermaid/siren + bombshell vibe.

#7-10 Today: I had another audition, and wore a thrifted Theory blouse that I custom-dyed to match my skin tones, and a navy blue Tahari blazer.

#11-13. Two other outfits that I wore to open mic jazz sessions the past couple of weeks.

#14-15. I wore this in January to a private concert. We’re expecting cold temps this coming week, so I’ll be wearing this outfit again! This outfit is Film Noir + what I refer to as “Fetish Lite”. It was a trend in 2011 but disappeared quickly.

Nearly everything in these photos is from Goodwill or eBay.
