... I'm a big ol' flip-flopper! And I have some funny ideas about budgeting.

I had already printed the return label to ship the white boots back. AND ordered the 20-eye Doc Leannes.

Then inspiration struck, and I hauled out the 80%20 booties. They are so cool with pants!

Pants-only bootie? Skirts and skinnies-only knee-highs? Darn it, I want both... how much is too much for a new job overhaul spree? Not counting what I paid for with gift cards, if I pass on a 2nd citron top from AT, and if I keep both boots, after returns, I'm at about $300 of my own money.

Rae, I am all for frugality and even I don't see $300 as very much to kick you off in a new work place. I especially like #5&6, the bookending is very appealing.

May I address you in your Oval Office? I'd vote for you on ANY ticket, because you know what you want and you look good in it, too! I think you've got a handle on your budget and you'll get a lot of mileage out of the boots, so maybe pass on the second citron top and ride your presidency in style...with boots of all kinds. You are not a flip-flopper!

nothing wrong with bottom-specific shoes. there's too much pressure to mix to the max. if the booties look super fab only with pants, so be it. enjoy them with pants!!!!

Looks like none of you are batting an eye at my $300...

Lantana, I guess I must really live in a cave and have no idea how much stuff costs in the real world, lol. It makes me feel better that I'm not being glaringly greedy and irresponsible.

Kelly, yes, I was all set to return these after realizing (with some, uh, "help" from the DH) that they don't work with skirts/dresses.

Vicki and Helen - ha! Too true. Don't get me started on "fiscal conservatives" that are nothing of the sort... o_0

BJ, you make complete sense - and you're so right about the needless pressure. I don't complain that my knee high boots can't fit under pants, so what's the problem with boots that don't go with skirts?

Taylor, Andrea, and Scarlet... well, I hadn't fully decided yet, but can I gather that you think I should keep the booties and get the Docs as well?

$300 for a work wardrobe overhaul seems downright economical to me. Would the docs be for work? In general Docs would suit you well, but they seem informal for an office job.

Whew! Angie, I've about 85% convinced myself to keep them. The 15% indecision comes from the strange guilt of feeling very spoiled. Full disclosure is that I also spent all of my birthday and Christmas money on this... so $300 isn't the total cost, but just the cost to me. It helps that you like these - I feel especially fab in the citron ones.

Marley, you slay me! Of course you are a natural for Secretary of Style - and an interview is not necessary, since I've already met you multiple times. What's a little power if I can't place a few friends in the Cabinet, right? Now we need a Secret Service to jump in front of me in the event of wardrobe malfunctions.

Rae, I like the booties with pants and I liked them with a couple dresses but not ALL your skirt/dress options. Your opinion on the latter, however, is more important than mine! _If you will be wearing more pants, then I say KEEP. _

However, if they are dear and you will NOT be wearing more pants, pass. Even if you adore the boots in concept but won't put them to work it's not worth it.

So, will you be wearing more pants?

The Docs, of course, I say 'gitem'! You could, if you wore OTK socks, wear them under pants also. Natch I think they look great with skirts, dresses and skinnies.

FWIW, my suit is actually dark navy windowpane plaid. So those crazy boots look good with lotsa stuff!

Sign me up for the Secret Service. I do have military training, you know.

Now that I have jeans day, my Sloans, and am expecting to get my gift cards back (which could nab me more Sloans or other dress pants), I think it's safe to say I'll wear more pants than I have been. Especially when it warms up and my thick tights start to seem more stuffy than cozy.

And it's only natural that we have a genuine-W UWP in the Secret Service!

Oh I can't WAIT to see you in the Docs! You know I'm as cheap as they come, but when you want and love something enough that you are wracking your brain to make it work (and digging in your couch and car seats for coins) you KNOW that these are going to be super fab workhorses for you for years. And you're right, that is WAY too much pressure to put on our boots (that they must go with *everything*). Ooooo, I'm so excited for you Rae!

I think they look great with pants!! And maybe I am the only one who understands the $300 hesitation. But if you have it to spend, and you love them, why not?!

I agree that they look awesome with pants. I say go for it, and start wearing more pants! Can you duplicate the Sloans, since the fit is so fab? (not to be a complete enabler or anything....)

Sometimes I think flip-floppin' is a good thing - makes us revisit something. I love these outfits Rae and I also think you'll rock the Docs. If you can afford it, I say keep both. They serve different purposes and will bump up your work style which you seem to be looking for. As for a total of $300, I don't think that's too much for two good quality pairs of footwear.

So when do you start your campaign????

2012 sure is shaping up to be the Year of the Boot! Maybe I feel like I got more than I did because of duplicating and using my store credit for UWP boots.

OK. Official Election Platform:
- Keep white booties.
