Ack! Head shots and group photo HELP

After years of writing for free, or free products, I have finally graduated to semi-paid blogging (some of the time). I am really excited and hoping that this could grow into more blogging jobs. This saturday, I have to go for headshots and a group photo of the blogging team (15-20 women). The photos will be outdoors and I was told to wear "dark or muted tones" and no bright colors. I am nervous because I haven't met any of these folks yet. What on earth do I wear? I am not sure which season to even dress for because our weather here in the south is totally unpredictable in March!

Ugh and makeup. But really, first, clothes help, please???

I'd go with a solid blue, and a collared or less exposed neckline since its a head shot. Also, bring two lipsticks, one neutral and one with a pop so you can decide on the fly based upon what the crowd is tending towards. Good luck and congrats!

I would consider getting your hair done, and wearing it down. I know that isn't what you asked, but that's my advice!

I like look number 16, 18 and 19. The first few pictures make me cringe because it doesn't flatter your figure. Please get rid of the floral skirt. I think you look great with your hair up or maybe you should try half up. All the best!

Guys, I am sorry I posted an urgent Thread and then totally disappeared. That was my bad....I have been dealing with a stomach bug all week and just barely functional.
I blog about mommy topics, homeschooling and frugal living. This shoot is for a mom blog.
I might get my hair done but I did cut it to shoulder length which I fully regret. Dark blue is probably my best bet, thanks for the suggestions!

As someone who has a lot of headshots I can tell you that more is more haha. I don't mean go crazy with eyeliner, just make sure you are wearing foundation, highlighter and contouring.

As for clothes, opt for all black, form fitting not tight but nothing baggy. Wear an open v neck blouse to balance out the round nature of a headshot. Your face and smile are the most important thing. Show teeth, it makes you open and approachable. I tend not to like big jewelry in head shots.

For a good shot try jutting out your neck a little (it's called turtle necking) which elongates your neck and hides any double chin situations. And enjoy it!! Get your hair and makeup done if you can and then schedule a girls night out afterwards. Make it a celebration.

Thanks everyone. I wanted to post the disappointing outcome that I found a very cute dress on Friday night and got a great haircut....but then my virus seemed to return on Saturday morning and I didn't get to go to the photo shoot. I was so sad. But I still have the haircut, which was much needed.
