I recently bought the light blue and love them. VERY '80s and feels likes a refreshing change for my jeans style.

A few things:

They fit differently across the washes - annoying, I know. I didn't find some of the other washes comfortable on the crotch point, but lucked out with the light blue (first Find).

It has a button-fly.

I sized up a size so that I wouldn't get a wedgie

They stretch out a little during the day, but stay put because of the curved high rise. No yanking at your waistband, thank goodness.

Road tested the Wedgie yesterday. Adore them. Each time I looked in the mirror I laughed. Fun fashion!

You rock those! I am not a big fan of high waisted in general but I love the fit of these on you. It’s so flattering to your proportions and works seamlessly with your style. It makes me realize that for me mid-rise is my ‘high-rise’ for equivalent proportions. How frustrating that fits aren’t consistent across washes.

Stripy hoodies and 80s jeans! Angie, I think our styles are colliding! I would be trying those light-wash Wedgies if I didn't have a pair of vintage Calvin Klein mom jeans in a very similar cut and colour. Now I'm going to have to get myself some white boots.

Thanks for these tips. Useful info. Re the fit -- this was always the way, back in the day -- you had to try multiple pairs to find one that fit correctly.

I love them! I'm going to size up and try different washes. Only issue for me will be length. Maybe I can find a cropped version.

They do look terrific on you - but with all due respect, of course they will on a figure as slim as yours. There's a whole other world of women out there who aren't a size 0 and on whom jeans like this can look pretty bad. Your styling of them sets them apart too. I LOVE the striped hoody and would copy this whole look in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the info. I tried a pair on in store in a different wash and I did not need to size up. Love the high rise and fabric! Sadly they didn't work on me.

They look great on you! I've tried five or six different versions of the Wedgie (I own two pairs) and the sizing and cut really is all over the place. Some of the denim is a lot stretchier than others.

Lisa p, these are not everyone's cuppa tea for sure, and any size. I suspect this style will stay fringe because of the high tight non-stretch waist although it used to be mainstream decades ago! The world isn't used to it anymore - and will that every change? Your guess is as good as mine. I've had sizes US00 to US12 in the style so far, and the opinions were mixed. Some like them and others said no thank you. Some thought they were ridiculous, and others loved their fresh and structured waist. Everyone laughed though - and that's the best part of all

Merwoman, I usually wear a 25, and I sized up to a 26 in these. 25 gave me a wedgie.

Is this also called mom jean? Genuinely curious. If so, it’s posible they did fit some of us better back when we were mom age, instead of our current grandma age (speaking only for myself, of course.) I know fortunately my weight is the same as 30 years ago, but my shape is not.

Is it the curve on the high rise that generates the "wedgie" descriptor? Can one have a high waisted yet simultaneously low rise jeanI? I really can't think of a less appealing way to attempt to sell denim (wedgie?), however, it does catch one's attention and they look fabulous on you. Fun to see your adventures in updated your jeans. Very helpful.

I'm chuckling with cjh and Lisa's comments, as these styles were not even JFE on my build 20+ years ago, when I was 20 lbs smaller. I posted a photograph once here of me in "mom jeans" and I know I couldn't have weighed more than 130 at the time, but dang if those jeans didn't make me look several sizes larger. So, considering I'm only an inch taller than Angie but five sizes larger (and most of that in the hips and thighs), I'll be staying far away from this look and enjoying it on others who carry it better than I do! I think these cuts -- and the ribbed tight tops to go with them -- ADD curves to figures, and I definitely do not need more of that. I think these styles are great on straighter figures or for ladies who want to accentuate the curves.

These are on their way to me, and I am curious to see how they fit. Nordstrom makes it pretty painless to try something, so I figured they are worth a shot. I sized up. My husband wears only 501s, and I would say the fit on those varies by the wash as well. But they all stretch out with a few wears. That’s my memory of Levi’s, back in the day when wearing men’s Levi’s was the thing. First they were too tight, then just right, then too baggy, and you had to wash them and start over.

after a while of searching a month or so ago, I found a pair of the Wedgie style in a plus size (amazon) in a medium wash--love the button fly & higher rise! They stretch out a bit, but not overly so.

I really wanted a lighter wash (non-distressed) and have a pair in a smaller size on the way...Im kind of in between sizes, so will see if the largest "straight" size will work. it is a bit annoying how they all fit a bit inconsistent across the washes---but its so great to see higher rises on the move. No fun having to yank up jeans all day!!

Angie, you are too funny with your wedgie selfies! But I do know exactly what you mean about pants & shorts that do that.

Janet, funny, but a friend of mine who is stick straight was just complaining recently that she thinks these styles are for women with curves (by that she means boobs, butt & hips, not simply extra weight the way some people seem to want to use that word). She says they all just hang on her and look sad.

FI, I think that's about right. Vintage fits like the wedgie jeans cater to the hourglassy, I presume because that shape was the standard of beauty for so long. I'm pretty small but have a defined waist and pronounced waist/hip ratio. Plus really muscular legs. Skinnies and leggings are the hardest look for me to pull off, at any weight or size, because the proprtions are wrong. They actually looked better when I was pregnant, when I had no waist to accentuate anyway! In any case, hooray for retail diversity and options for everyone.

FashIntern and La Ped, YES. This style of jean is actually made for curvy figures because it follows the silhouette of the conventional female form. Yet many curvier women prefer skinnies. It's fascinating. No right or wrong here - simply preferences that vary from person to person.

I ordered mine from ShopBop, as I noticed that most of the Wedgie jeans Nordstrom offers are "high rise," with a rise over 11" ... that's really, really high on me, so I went with this version that has a 10.25" rise.

I'm shocked at how quickly my eye is adjusting to high rise denim. Everything else is starting to look somewhat off. Still, it's been a loooooooong time since I had a pair of jeans this shape and fabrication. For sure, the try-on is going to be entertaining!

Well, that was fast! ShopBop delivered in a day. Wow. First, I laughed! Then I stared at them for a while. Verdict: I love them! I say, try them if you are curious. Why not! Now to find some shorter tops. For reference, I am 5’3” and these are 28. I cuffed them in the first photo to get the cropped length. In the second photo I left them full length, which is to the ankle on me. Sized up so they are wedgie in name only.

Interesting & annoying that the fit would be so different depending on the wash. I tried the white earlier this year, and while they fit fine-they were just did nothing for me. Totally unflattering.

Me, I’m staying FAR away from the wedgie. My figure is pretty much rctangular with broad shoulders, and I love a high waist, so I thought they might work.

Boy was I wrong. Can you say crotch point strangulation? Couldn’t get out of those suckers fast enough—and then found I really couldn’t
get out of them. I was trapped in wedgies! WITH a wedgie.

I will admire them on other people!

Angie, I did try a size up and they were big on me.

And, I quickly got the hint the SA was giving me when she said that the pockets on this jean are sized and placed to purposely emphasis the butt...as she was handing me a different style of jeans to try.

ETA: The pair I'm wearing in the picture are size 28 which seems to be my usual size lately.

Angie - I really like them on women like you , and actually enjoy this new fit and silhouette for jeans . I feel decidedly out of it in my skinny mid rises , and one of these days I’ll find the time to shop around and try some new jeans on. I find this Wedgie/mom Fit flattering on so few people though , making the trend a tricky one for the a average woman to adopt . The back pockets can be deadly .
