Once or twice a year I try to post some outfits because I continuously get so much inspiration from this site (both blog and forum) and am very thankful for it.

All of these outfits were (or will be) worn to teach my college courses and I love that I can dress as casually or elegantly as I want (anything goes really, as long as it's decent of course).

1.1 My favorite dress purchase this summer (Anthropology).

1.2 My absolute favorite sandal purchase (Jambu).

2.3 This outfit happened only as a support for the COS necklace that I love but is hard to wear.

3.2 / 3.3 I am going back and forth on this top purchased during NAS. I absolutely loved it in the fitting room with those tinted and slimming mirrors. At home I cannot make up my mind anymore. I adore the strict collar and cut of the body. The sleeves are quite excessive, but I was thinking to simply remove the trumpet details once they were out of fashion. However I also think that a long pendant necklace would look good to break up the front, but the collar doesn't allow for it (I tried and it just doesn't work). Any thoughts?

4.3 / 4.4 I stepped into Gap yesterday and on the sale rack I spotted this fun denim summer top in my size. I paid it any attention only because somebody had mentioned it on this forum, so I tried it on and it fit me perfectly (and cost all of $9.00). The denim is quite substantial for summer; I might therefore use it only for layering like in these two potential outfits.

5.1 / 5.2 This J.Crew top I purchased completely thanks to Greyscale! She showed it here a few weeks ago and I loved and ordered it in the b/w stripes and in white. The white was too sheer, plus I have so many white tops already. I love the funnelneck collar, the side buttons, and the boxy cut. First I thought the back was a bit too long compared to the front and I was about to shorten it a little. Then I was too lazy and just left it, but might still alter it at some point in the future.

5.3 Top from Uniqlo.

What a treat to see you! First, you look as stylish as ever. You look equally fantastic in dresses and pants. Awesome footwear all the way around too. The architectural sleeves of 3.2 are a party from the side--so fun. I wouldn't alter unless they annoy you. I also really like the high low of the JCrew top. The style is fantastic and dramatic. Thanks for sharing!

Wow - I love the touches of yellow here, the stylish flat shoes and the slightly architectural shapes.

Your dresses 1 and 2 are both great and I love the next two pants looks with the yellow top - and the grey and white floral top too.

The top you are mulling over is fabulous, but I can see your dilemma. It is quite avant garde and I think you have to play that up almost - maybe loose white or a light neutral wide leg pants? I prefer the top the same as Greyscale.

The looks are terrific - everything works well and looks like the same person!!

I love your posts! And what a fun set of transitional outfits -- I can see it going from warmer to cooler outdoors right before my eyes. You've made citron/lemon a fantastic signature colour. Jealous, because I enjoy it but find it difficult to wear.

Are those burgundy jeans the Dres from last year? They look familiar. They look great on you, whatever they are.

I see the issue with the dramatic top. I'd be struggling, too. For me perhaps the decider would be how often I need/ want/ have a wardrobe hole for a covered yet interesting top that does not require a topper. I can see this being really useful for some climates/ situations (esp. work) where you want to look professional yet a bit current/ trend conscious and it's too hot for a jacket. Re breaking up the front...would a brooch at the collar help at all? I've done that with high neck tops that didn't seem to tolerate a necklace. A scarf would also work but hide the neck detail.

Oh, I like the denim top/ vest! I'd noticed it on the Gap website and thought it was fun. Really great on you! Also love the J. Crew. I might need to look into that one, too....

These are fab! sharp, on trend, i love the clean look of each. Very simple but each outfit looks current, simple and fashion forward. Love all the low heeled shoes.

Sal: Until you pointed it out (along with Sue), I didn't even realize that yellow/citron were indeed the only bright colors I had worn.
Yes, it's that avant-garde side that attracts me to the 3.2 top, but will it get worn, that is the question. And indeed, in a way it is quite similar to the J.Crew top.

Sue: Thank you so much for the elaborate response! I truly love citron and maybe you are right and it has kind of become my signature color.
The burgundy jeans were from Costco 2 years ago and have held up wonderfully.
The dramatic top: You have exactly pointed out the problem. Its attractiveness goes away with a topper, no question. However, in summer it has too much fabric on the sleeves and once it gets cold, those trumpet sleeves won't keep me warm enough, breezy as they are. Thus this top is tricky to wear. I have tried a scarf with it, but I feel that it needs to be presented as simply as possible, given the drama in the sleeves. It's highly impractical, but somehow I love it. I think it needs to go back though.
If only I had bought those sneakers in white too! I needed/wanted a white sneaker but thought I should find a different cut/brand. I bought a white ARA sneaker in Europe, very comfortable in the store, but they have given me a blister every time I have tried wearing them. I should just have gotten the ECCOs!

Love the colour combo of 2.4. And all your shoes.
My favourite is 3.1, I like the proportions best, and I love the shirt. I want one.
3.2 is long, makes your legs shorter than your other tops, maybe that’s your issue with it?
I like the long back of 5.1 actually (and the shorter front, compared to 3.2).

Chouette, your style is so gorgeous--elegant, modern, a bit sporty and arty. I love all the outfits. As I looked through the photos before reading your text, I was really drawn to the outfits in 3--what I might call the interesting blouse series. I really like that blouse with the huge bell sleeves and long back, and it is so cool over you slim black pants with the monk-strap shoes. Outfit perfection to my eye. So I was surprised to read your hesitation over the blouse! I am also drawn to the similar looks in 5.1-2 and 5.3-4. You have a fantastic work capsule going here for your college position. Thanks for sharing these looks!

Thank you for the vote of confidence for 3.1 Skylurker! That's another shirt I hesitated on a lot because bows and I don't really have a working relationship. But here it's more an architectural detail, I think, and I quite like it too. And it somehow works with my rectangular body.

Sue, I forgot your last question: they are Michael Kors shoes from several years back. Quite timeless, I think.

I love everything and I'm especially impressed by your eye for proportions and fit. Some of these items are a little unusual style wise and have to be just so to look this great.

I'm so impressed by the consistency of your presentation here. This is something I just cannot conquer: the posing, the photography, the management of photos, the etc. The thoughtfulness of your presentation is certainly reflected in the integrity of your style and in your reflection about different pieces. To be frank, when I peruse your post and read your comments, I feel like a MESS. But that is my issue... I think I will flag this post and study it, and perhaps use it as a model for a bit of wardrobe/style analysis.

I love the range of outfits here: the footwear, the proportions, just the right balance of solid foundational items and unique/statement items ... just so, so right.

As for the big question piece from NAS, I see you've decided to return it. I would have supported with a keep or return decision. I love the sleeves, and while I understand the need for a severe core to balance them, I personally wish it wasn't quite so severe. A softer neckline would have made all the difference in wearability.

Ha Viva, this is why I manage only one or two WIWs per year, because it's quite an undertaking for me as well! You and a mess - I don't believe it!

By the way the shoes in 5.1 are the same as you have, but they are just not that comfortable on me. I suffer a bit every time I wear them and I know you have commented on loving their comfort. Not two pairs of feet are alike.

Thanks for your comment on the NAS top. I thought I had reached a decision, but that lasted only about an hour. I am undecided again. I'll have to try it on again this weekend and make up my mind once and for all.

These are gorgeous. Classic and elegant, but so contemporary. I'd pick a favorite but I can't get past those monk strap shoes.

Gorgeous all round, love your style! BUT, I so can relate ref. NAS trompet sleeved shirt-seems a bit too stiff so if you cannot style and feel confident in it, better to return. You have lot of other great tops here, especially the last 2 from J.Crew, the denim one worn layered (what a great idea, wow!!) and the grey floral futter sleeve one, too! Love your shoes, and necklaces, too!
