I'm still on the hunt for a pair of truly modern Summer sandals. You know, something like the Sam Edelman's that Angie posted earlier this Spring. Every pair I try, however, fits poorly. Sigh. Still, I think I've learned some important things about Summer dressy sandals, so here it is:

1. These shoes are too scary! I love these 3 1/2 year old shoes, which I purchased for stage wear. But, while I walk fairly easily in heels, the combination of the narrow heel point and the open back of the shoe means that these are constantly slipping out from underneath me. They are SOO glam, and even, dare I say it, sexy. And yet, falling on your kiester is never really sexy! They're in the goodwill bin.

2. These shoes are too frumpy! These 3 year old Payless Pewter's rate a B in comfort, and they were the thing in 2010. But they feel more dated to me now, especially as I've been earsestly looking for an update. And they give me the look of creepy long toes, even though I don't, for the record, have creepy long toes. They're in the donate pile!

3. These shoes are just right! Or rather, they're right for right now. I'm still keeping up the search, and the reasonable price of these Aerosoles from DSW keeps a little room in the budget for a more permanent solution. Still, these wedges are a little more flattering and dressy to my eye. I'm a little worried that wedges may be on their way "out," but this was overridden by the fact that wedges suit my style and frame and they are exceedingly comfy and walkable.

So did Goldilocks settle for less than the best? Or did she skip merrily home in her comfy wedges with a plan to check the next house in the woods another day?
