I've received 5 items from a 15 plus item order. The other items have not shipped, they are all marked "getting ready."

At least one of the Birkenstocks is a return, or both if you think the fit is wrong. Otherwise, I'm thinking of keeping all of the clothing.

1 and 2. The in-honor-of-Mom twinset. Sleeves are very long (see pic 2 for folded option) but material on both items is high quality. Two classic items with high longevity. I'm thinking of keep but if you think it's a mistake (borderline dowdy?), talk me down. I'm changing my style to a more modern classic look than before.

3. Angie pick burgundy and navy top. Fit is looser on me than the model, which I like. Anything tighter would not be friendly to wobbly bits. Keep.

4 and 5. Birkenstocks in pink. Why is the heel cup so big on me? I love the color but the toe separator would take some getting used to. Return?

6 and 7. Same problem with silver Birkenstocks. They feel very good on so I guess what I'm asking is, does the shoe look ill fitting. Sorry for the dirty carpet, kids and dogs. Keep?

I will start with the shoes of course. I think comfort is much more important than a small bit of length in the back. I like the look of the pink ones, but know what you mean about the toe loop. Of course take this with a grain of salt, because I buy a lot of shoes second hand and am perhaps a bit more flexible with sizing if they are comfortable.
Striped shirt is a no brainer keeper.
Not sure about the twinset. The sleeves are too long of course but can be folded or scrunched. The cardigan does seem big overall.

The cardigan does seem a bit large/frumpy in the first picture, but, with the sleeves folded, it hangs better. The color is lovely on you, and the fabric does look luxurious. That said, if you think you’ll keep looking for an “in honor or mom” twin set, even if you buy this one, I’d return it, and hold out for something that’s perfect. The stripe top is fab. Fit looks good on the Birks- or, at least, when I had a couple pairs, the fit was similar. You could always try a size down. I’d keep the silver, since the toe separator of the pink might not work for you.

Big Birks fan here. If I were you, I would order a size down in the Birks and see. They seem to be a size too big, but perhaps you are very much in between two sizes (which is the case for some people), and then none of their styles will work for you. In terms of color, I like both. If the toe seperator is an issue, then go with the silver ones.

Thanks for modeling these! Modern classic indeed. I think the cardigan and the shirt/shell are too big - the cardigan for sure. I’d order a size down (maybe even 2 sizes down?).

I like that shirt a lot on you and it looks like a great fit. I like it with those dark jeans.

I love the sandals! In terms of color, does one pair make more sense for you over the other, in terms of your wardrobe? They look like they fit well. I think Birks always feel strange at first, though I haven’t worn them in years. If you can deal with the toe separator, I like the pink best, but the silver are great, too.

starting with the Birks... have you worn Birks before? i ask becaue i bought a pair 2 years ago, super comfortable in the store....but IRL they just were never really "right"....later learned that this is a brand that you love or it doesn't work, there doesn't seem to be an inbetween...can you wear them around inside for an hour or so to get the "real feel" and then decide?

the twin set....i don't remember seeing you in pink, nice color on you...not your usual style, but as you say your moving more classic...if there is a size down on the cardi, i'd give that a try...

I also have the Birk Mayari. They are birkibuck (?sp) not real leather. The toe part will break in with wear. I love the pink color that you got. I have them in shiny ivory and they are very comfortable and look much nicer than most Birks. I would suggest keep as long as the size is good and as long as they don’t feel uncomfortable to you.
Mine are very comfortable and I get a lot of compliments on them.

I love birds, have a couple, I guess they do work on my feet. I’ve never liked toe thong thingies but I have the silver you show in a gold and wear them so much! I love that the style is prettier than the traditional birkie. And I love these Metallica. ... ok mid post I ran up to try on my two pairs. And my heel is very nicely in the heel cup with no gaps. I’d try a size down too. OTOH it’s so close and if comfy... I’m no help at all

I really like the navy and red top! That's a keeper for sure. The pink set is very pretty but does look a little too oversized to my eye.

Re: Birks, I have tried so many styles in every imaginable size. What I've found is that the size that's the right length has the arch support in the wrong place. I'm a skeptic when it comes to arch support anyway, but I think Birks are such a cute look that I kept trying to find a pair that would work. I've 100% crossed them off my list at this point, because the footbed just doesn't suit my foot.

I like the tops! The twinset is a looser fit than I’m used to seeing you in, but it looks cozy!

Re the Birks: They are not a shoe that works for me. The long length on these would bother me, as well as the thong style. But they ARE cute. So if you can really wear them...

First the birks. I just purchased two pairs so I am a birk lover. I love the pink ones and recently tried them in the store. I found the toe loop really uncomfortable and therefore didn't purchase but Joyce B mentions above they break in with wear. I love the silver ones also.
It could be that you need to try a size down. I take a 38 narrow in birks and my regular footwear is 8.5. Not sure if that helps. Can you order a size down and try?

Cardigan - I love this colour on you and it looks cozy. I'm not sure I love how long the arms are.

Red/Navy top - definite keeper

You look like a totally different sized person in the navy sweater vs. the twin set, and the sleeve thing would make me insane. Do consider sizing down in the twin set, if not reconsider it entirely. The navy sweater is absolutely a keeper, very much a modern classic.

I sized down two sizes in Birks. Their website has a FAQ about how they should fit, if you're interested. The thong aspect of the sandals never bothered me, but the material does soften.

Denise, I was nodding with everything LaPed said about Birks. For me, the arch support is never in the right place so I have given up on them. I don't know what LaPed's foot shape is precisely but I know she's said she has narrow heels, as you and I do, and you and I have similarly shaped feet otherwise -- shorter toes, wider forefoot, narrower heel, higher arch.

But if you've worn before and typically they work for your foot and you know it, I'd try sizing down in these to compare. They're very pretty in both colours. I do think you'd probably get blisters at first in the pink but the leather would soften over time and body glide might help.

The striped top looks like a good addition. As for the lilac sweaters, it's tough to judge in these photos. What are the overall proportions like? Can you get a shot of that? I would try sizing down if you can for comparison at least.

I love the striped top on you - perfect fit. I agree that it would be worth sizing down on the cardigan at least - I don';t think the twinset looks dowdy; it is classic and pretty luxe looking. But I'd like to see the cardigan somewhat more streamlined on you - it's kind of swallowing you up.

I can't wear Birks and so will abstain from having an opinion.

Much the same comments from me: twinset too big and kind of "off" somehow. Not interesting enough for your usual style? Love the striped top. I love Birks and always, always have a few pair in rotation . These are not my favourite style, and to me veer away from the original /classic look of Birks. I think you can do modern classic in a more sophisticated way? The heel cup part doesn't bother me - looks ok and will be more comfortable than having them a tad too short. Oops - I'm pretty opinionated this morning ......

I think the Birks look fine but if you've never worn them before it might really help you to go to a store that specializes in the (that would be The Walking Shoe store in my parts) and they can help you with the sizing. That's what I did with my first pair and I'm not sure I would have ended up with the correct size if I hadn't. Plus you could try the different styles. My feet LOVE, LOVE Birks!

I actually love oversized cardis , especially for cooler weather so I say keep.
I think they look particularly fab with sleek tops , booties and leggings underneath . But the choice of course is yours

I also am a huge fan of the toe loop in any sandal and are actually the only type I wear. It keeps my toes from sloshing around , if that makes any sense
So unless they *feel*. Too big , I say keep the birks.

I love the pink "twinset" I can see you rocking this in a very modern way. I don't mind the rolled sleeve but prefer the scrunch.

The birks LOOK good. If they are comfy, I vote KEEP. I can't wear anything between my toes anymore, but I've had that same style and they are very cute.

The burgundy and navy is nice, too.

I seem to be an outlier here, but I like the twinset on you. I think it has an elegant look. After reading others' comments, I agree you could try a size down for comparison, though I know that's a pain with online ordering.

Striped top is super cute and a winner.

I have the same style Birks, and I don't find the toe thing uncomfortable at all. In fact it is way more comfy to me than a thong-type sandal. And it works for me, where toe-rings do not, because my big toes never fit through them. I'm not bothered by the look of the heel on yours. It's really about how the footbed fits your foot. If the little ridge for the toes and the arch support are in the right place, the fit is good. I wore a size smaller than I expected, based on the size chart. I'm between a 7 and 7.5 usually, and I took the 37 rather than the 38.

Thank you for all of the detailed comments. I will stalk the site for an XS in the cardigan. The top fits well in an S, I wouldn't want it smaller. I do think the items have a grab and go quality that will make me reach for them a lot. But, the shoulder area is really what is ill fitting on me, I have very narrow shoulders that fit a size 0-2 best but the rest of my torso needs 2 or 3 sizes up from that. I need to think about if I can just live with it because the feel of the item is excellent (if I cannot find an XS).

As for the Birkenstocks, here are the sizes and styles that fit me well: Florida in regular (D width) size 35. Arizona B width size 36 with SOFT FOOTBED. The arches are in the right place. I feel the arches and toe grips are slightly off in these two purchased pairs, so I'll have to return them. It is very hard to find the classic D width in size 35, and the soft footbeds seem to be picked over. I need to start my Birkenstock purchases earlier in the season I guess.

Another fan of oversized sweaters, especially in luxurious fabrics. Not in every sweater but it can be nice to have a few.
Everything looks good to me, just two different fits on the cardigan and the striped top.
Variety.
I like the pink birks best. I don’t know about their sizing but the back doesn’t look bad to me. Much better than a heel hanging off.

Good news! The Salina is available in a size 35 in black, I'm giving it a try. I also ordered some more black pants / jeans for workwear. And, the lilac cardigan became available in a size XS so I ordered that too. My credit card is getting a workout this month!

We'll see when any of this ships, I don't remember the shipping being this slow last year.

I’m an 8 or 8.5 is most brands and always assumed I needed the 38 in Birks. I got fit for Birks at an orthopaedic store by a middle aged man who clearly had experience/strong opinions and he put me in a 37 which is smaller than I’d ever worn. My feet completely fill the shoe and my toes may been be a millimeter over. But comfort wise they are perfect, they are 3 or 4 years old now and I still wear them almost daily around the house and casually as they look a bit tired for nicer outfits. Later I tried another style at a trendy shop and the youthful staff were insistent that I needed the 38 because the Birkinstock fit guide dictates some room at the toe or heel. But the problem with the 38 for me is that they are too wide and my feet grip to compensate which leads to cramping.
All this to say, try a size down

In my experience, Birkenstocks have a very unforgiving foot bed. You either fit it or you don’t, and if you don’t it can be extremely uncomfortable. They are all wrong for my feet - heel too wide, arch falls in the wrong spot. I would vote return if they do not seem to fit well.

Yes Sharan! I realize how spoiled I am with Amazon and Shopbop which is owned by Amazon. I wish I was closer to a Nordstrom store. There is one 2.5-3 hours away (!) just not practical for me.
