For the second day in a row I'm wearing what seems to me to be a very Sally Lockhart outfit (SL is a fictional character by Phillip Pullman).
Pic 1 - long hankerchief hem blue print skirt and navy blue merino wool pullover. I had wanted to wear my victorian granny boots, but they have a 2" heel, and since I danced for 2 hours last night, my feet were like NUH UH! So I pulled on the Frye's instead, which gave a bit of a tougher vibe than I had originally planned.
Pic 2 - Now originally this outfit was inspired by E's lovely brown velvet jacket, which made me want to style my own navy blue velvet jacket - however once I got the tough brown boots on, the navy velvet wasn't right - so I went for my brown suede Nehru jacket instead. I never pattern mix, but somehow this silk floral scarf insisted on being worn, and it seems to work?
Pic 3 - Once again I really loved the mix of textures in this outfit - trying to show the floral silk, the brown suede with the lovely frog detailing and Chinese knots, and the navy merino wool (and my everyday bronze sugar skull bangle in there too).
Pic 4 - This whole thing still felt kind of 19th century, but more wild wild west than European. To pick up the Chinese influence I chose these earrings which are actually old Chinese coins. I often have little braids in my hair for extra texture that no one ever sees, plus it seemed to go with the theme.
I am really quite surprised at how very very satisfied and happy I am with yesterday and today's outfits. I do not feel the slightest bit like I'm in costume; rather I feel very natural and comfortable.
What do you think? Am I off my rocker these last two days?
