A little modern, a little vintage, a little Pinspiration

DH and I went out for dinner tonight with two other couples. Good company and good food - is there anything better on a Saturday night?

I've been wanting to wear these Leith track pants again before putting them away for the winter. The fabric is a lightweight silky poly, and since it was quite cold and rainy I wore a pair of Cuddl Duds underneath. On top I wore an off white fluid fitting blouse. I tucked that and pulled it up a bit so it would blouse out a little. Then I added my faux leather lapel drapey jacket. For footwear I wore my leopard print pumps. Initially I put on off-black knee highs, but I didn't like all that darkness on the bottom, I thought the nude hose looked better since I had off-white on top, plus with the nude hose you can see the zippers on the pant legs better.

The purse is vintage - it belonged to my mother and has a lovely peach colored lining inside with an attached coin purse. My guess is it's from the 1950's and came from one of her favorite Phila. department stores, either John Wanamaker's or Lit Brothers. It brings back fond memories every time I carry it

I think you must be right about that bag. I have a similar one from my mother-in-law, also with a peach lining and coin purse (!!) and I know it dates from the 50s for sure because she told me. Mine is not velvet but a sort of silk grosgrain fabric and it has a little handle -- I'll have to snap a pic for you.

Thanks, Isabel, for noticing my lipstick! I decided to wear a deeper color (instead of my usual light ones) for more drama.
Shevia, Meredith, and Jjsloane, years ago I used to watch this HGTV show called "Room by Room." On the show Matt and Shari would often add an unexpected element to each room they redid. I love to do that in my outfits, and the purse was my "unexpected."

Suz, the purse isn't velvet (just photo'd that way) but it is a sort of silk grosgrain. I have another one of my mother's that's almost the same but has a little handle and has a regular snap closure, not a pearl one.

Sveta and Runcarla, I love those pants but always have to turn to Angie and Pinterest to style them. The gathers at the waist and the wide-to-narrow silhouette accentuates the worst part of me - my belly. Correct styling is a must!
