I was happy with my holiday capsule. But nowI feel like my style mojo has plummeted with the temperatures. More on that in a separate post.....

I had planned a few midwinter refresher pieces, and found two a couple of weeks ago (see pics 3 & 4). Yesterday, I found these blue pumps at Kohls. I would have purchased but they were.....gasp.......full price! Now, Angie has taught me that full price is sometimes the best option, but then, no on in their right mind would buy anything full price at Kohls! They mark up to mark down. 10 to 1 then went on sale tonight -- although they're new enough to not be on the website yet.

I love the pointy-toe and what I call a "Louis" heel. They are not cushioned at all, but, since I size up a half size to add room to the toe box, a ball of foot insert will add cushioning and make the fit perfect.

Could these be a good midwinter refresher piece?

They would need to be able to be paired with pants (black and jeans) and skirts/dresses, and they'd need to be 3 season. This is my biggest concern. These are faux suede, so I won't wear them in the summer. Could they be worn in the other seasons? Do you see them as fitting my overall style?

They are gorgeous and yes they would work with your style. A very nice refresher, but I'm wondering if a but bow might do the trick! (Sorry couldn't help myself). Buy the shoes.

yes... gasp... but, they are beautiful. If the price was not a concern I'd enable you straight away. I have reservations only because they were not something you actually need, which would tip things in favour of buying.

Also, how would these work in winter? As in-door shoes only? I'm looking at the gritted sidewalks in front of my building as type and remember a sweet lady we saw the other day on the way back from school, who was -- all dressed up and in heeled shoes -- trying to walk over a small heap of snow to get into her car, to which my son -- all bundled up in winter clothing -- said "Your feet will get wet". She laughed and said "You are right young man". No idea why she hadn't taken those in the bag and got to the car in some more sensible footwear.

Just trying to look beyond how really pretty these are.

I absolutely think they will work for you. And yes, they would do for three season, although personally I find I don't feel like wearing suede as much in the spring. Can you wear shoes outside in winter? or do you have to lug shoes when you go places? This might influence how often you get to wear them, I know I wear boots a lot more in winter just because I don't want to have to take shoes.

What kind of return policy does Kohl's have? What about being sneaky... buy them, then buy them again when on sale, return the new ones with the original price receipt...

I would actually wear them in summer too. I understand your hesitation with the suede, but with the bright color and bare skin, I think they work.

They look so nice on your foot and the color is luscious and I think they fit your style. So it's a yes from me! And I really like the other two new pieces you added.

They look lovely on you, suitably diva-esque, and I think they'd work in other seasons. My one question is, as a midwinter refresher, will you be able to wear them in Midwest winter conditions? Did you try them with socks or other hosiery?

Love the shoes, Beth Ann - they are beautiful! I know you run warm, but my questions are E's and Ornella's -- how will they look with hose? Are they indoor shoes only? I know that I couldn't wear them except in limited situations indoors in winter here. But I suppose if you carry them to the university and put them on there?

I am eager to hear the rest of the story and learn what has been going on with you. Surprised to hear that you feel in a slump because your style has never looked better than in recent months. But in my experience we get these feelings just before a style shift or evolution or epiphany.

Those are gorgeous! I think they'd definitely be great both jeans and dresses and the cobalt seems like it would in different seasons. (I'd also wear those into the summer if I had them, but that may just be me.) Keep! And maybe they'll go on sale soon and you'll be able to re-buy at the sale price or something.

Wondering what's going on with the post-holiday slump you're experiencing. Will look for your post on that.

The color and style look amazing for you and would pop with the outfits you posted. The quality, not so much.

Where were these made, by whom, in what conditions? and how does that jive with your bigger picture and faith values?

You're right, these definitely fit the bill of "pretty shoes." They are more comfortable more than most, and they fit the dressier portions of my wardrobe. I would definitely have to carry them to work for the next month or so, and I'm only working at the University 2 days a week. Of course, I have to carry my red and black booties, too. It snow boots all the way this year! Now, I'd wear these to church, or even shopping, but that adds only another wear per week.
Suz: I'm not sure how they'll with hose. I think perhaps I'll wait long enough for them to be discounted a bit, bring them home, and try them out with my wardrobe. I need to be in there remixing and exploring anyway!

AmyK: As for their "sourcing," and quality, while they're not real suede, Vera Wang's line is generally well constructed. I find my DSW quality shoes last as long as more expensive pairs in general, but they cannot be "reconditioned" and are not worth a reworking. As for ethical production? I've generally chosen to make a difference through donation and support of ministries and nonprofits, avoiding producers only when their practices have received specific negative marks. I made this decision on the basis of discussions with friends working for NGOs and oversees ministries. Many don't want these poor jobs to go away -- they want stronger communities and better jobs to offer options and competition. More choice building than policing. At least, that's my decision process for now.

I htink they look really fun Beth Ann. I do like the more covered toe, I think it will keep them from looking too "light", I know you like to have a more substantial looking shoe. I like the heel shape too On the other hand... if you arent feeling satisfied with your style currently (seconding Suz that you have been looking Ah-Mazing in your WIWs but we have to feel comfortable in our own right) maybe hold off a bit until you get a sense for the direction you are going ... and they will probably be on sale by then too

Although is if the style dissatisfaction just needs a little winter pick up... waiting might not work.... hmmmm?

I love cobalt for you!!

The heel is the only bit that gives me pause, but if you say they are comfortable, go for it. Vera Wang has been one of the better brands I have found at Kohls.

And, while I agree with Angie on full price to a point, this is Kohls. Everything there goes on sale. And then there is the 20% coupon code for this weekend, and probably a 30% one coming. 50% off seems to be full price there!

I LUV cobalt and I gasped at how beautiful the shoe looks on your foot! So pounce on the sale and see if they play nice with your clothes.

Your two new jackets are FAB! I enjoy the ease of throwing on a nice jacket over basics.

I think cobalt is a wonderful color for a midwinter boost. It's bright and energizing, and it looks great on you!

These shoes have such a pretty silhouette; I can see why you like them. They would play well with other items I've seen from your wardrobe. I'll be eager to see if you purchase them. I'm also interested in learning more about your recent style mojo plummet and possible shift in direction.

Well I'm glad to hear that because it sounds like you've decided they are just the ticket.
I recommend treating the suede with whatever protectant you usually use. That will help take them into their 3rd season.
