A Few Geeky WIW - YouLookFab Forum

I've been loving my grandpa sweater and Oxfords this week, so I've just been going with the geek look.

#1 is from last weekend - my Boden sweater over mustard striped shirt and ochre chinos. My feet are cut off, but I'm wearing the Frye oxfords, sockless. And, of course, the magic hat.

#2-3 was for volunteering. Same Boden sweater over a t-shirt, leopard scarf, burgundy jeans rolled up to showcase "Poe-ka dot" socks. Get it? I felt particularly nerdy, and quite liked it.

#4 was yesterday's work-at-home/errands outfit. Kut leggings, fisherman's tunic sweater, Born boots.

I love them all! Especially the last 2 outfits--the socks are really fun. I love how your outfits are always so true to your personal style, and the patterns/textures you choose always support that. rachylou and Diana - I can totally see Diana in #4. Actually, I think our style has quite a bit of overlap. I love Diana's wardrobe!

Stephanie - You're very sweet. In the fall/winter, I feel like my look generally matches my personality well. I still really struggle with summer. Maybe next year will be when it all finally comes together. One can dream.

I can't find a pic of the exact same outfit, but I know I've worn it. So imagine the top half of the first outfit with the bottom half of the second...

Jenn I can see why you're happier with your fall/winter looks, you certainly look very at-home in these (spring/summer will improve! might take a bit, those "off season" seasons can be tough to sort out). I have a soft spot for #4 (I've also worn similar looks to that!), you really look amazing in cream. I also enjoy that your whimsy is often intelligent as opposed to pure whimsy; plays into the "bookish" descriptor you have.

I love no 4. Do you wear your tall boots at home? I would struggle with that because while I love mine to death they just don't feel cozy enough at home. I don't see geeky in these outfits. Well, maybe the socks. But they are so much fun. I love your style.

Love the way you use cozy items (grandpa sweater, socks, sweaters), and infuse them with texture, wit, rich color and style.

And I had the same question as Brooklyn -- I don't tend to wear shoes at home, so I've limited my tall boot collection. Your boots are stunning through, so I can imagine wanting to wear them at home.

Three great looks Jenn! I love the whimsical socks, the fab Autumnal colours and the lovely knits. I'm going with the last look as my favourite, because I love plaid and chunky knits

You know, Diana, I can't see the exact details in your first photo, but I think I have a pair of boots that are very similar to your black ones, too! Mine are North Face, black suede with a furry lining, and they lace up the back.

Brooklyn and Beth Ann, during many "work-at-home" days, I'm in and out a lot, running to school, grocery store, post office, and out to the garage and garden, so I'll keep the tall boots on for most of the day and change to something more comfy when we're well and truly in for the night.

Here's the find for my black boots. I highly recommend them if anyone is looking! They are fleece lined and have good traction - I can wear them in light snow actually so they are really useful.

Those Poe socks are such fun! I listened to some of his stories on Halloween.

You look great in all of these; I'd love to see the hat from #1 in outfit #3, as I think it'd play up the sweater & boots beautifully. But then, I'm partial to hats in general!
