1) new dress from Kohls... the pic seems washed out to me, but it's very colorful in reality

It might not be very spring-ish, but it's a very wet, cold day. If it's cold enough, I'll add the trench. I haven't decided which scarf I like better. The red multi-colored one has turquoise in it.

The way you have styled pic #3 appeals to me more than #4. The scarf in #4 is pretty but sort of "blends" with the top although it would smashng teamed with a lighter color like yellow or a white shirt.

I agree with Meredith, #3 appeals to me more. You look pretty and comfortable! I think your new dress looks great, but I'd like to see it without the black leggings, they seem too harsh next to these light spring colors.

I haven't figured out how to wear dresses without leggings yet this season. It's just too cold! The dress has black in it so I was hoping it would work. I can see the harshness in the photos though. I thought it would be ok since hardly any of the leggings are showing. Maybe not.

I get being cold, I wouldn't be able to wear a dress with bare legs yet either. Maybe with some lighter tights instead?

Cute dress - that will be great to take you into summer.
I like both scarf looks - they are just different. The blue is great for when you want a low contrast outfit

I love that dress on you! It looks great with or without the denim jacket. I'm not a leggings expert, but the dress almost seems too long to wear with leggings. Is it below knee length? Maybe black flats and a dark jacket would solve this, IDK.

The second outfit is outstanding too, and either scarf looks great to me! I hope it warms up for you soon, because you have some great dresses to wear.

Good to see you again, Brenda! I think the dress to leggings proportion is a little off - either the dress needs to be shorter or the leggings longer. And maybe grey leggings instead of black, which is a bit harsh with the light spring colors in the dress? I understand the need to be warm! I agree with the others that #3 is lovely!

I think lighter leggings would work with the dress, or if you added a black topper, it might hang together. It's such a great dress! And I love #3. The peek of black from the cami bookends your hair and the whole thing sings. It works (and I know what it is like to want to wear spring colours in cool weather!)

Cute new dress! I think that because it's a longer length, to balance the leggings you may want to try darker shoes; your hair adds a good dose of darkness but because the dress is a bit long it almost feels too far away (not sure if that makes sense?). You could also try cropped leggings that are a bit longer, or maybe even add a dark belt. Have you thought about white leggings? :}

Today's outfit is also cute! I prefer the red scarf in #3, buuuuuut I'd love to see a lighter lower layer instead of black (cream, tan, yellow, lime, blush..).

Hmmm... this dress is a twin to the blue one I posted a week or so ago. And several suggested it was also too long. It's funny that knee length seems too long... maybe it's my photographer... or I'm just too darn short! Ha! I might have to break down and shorten both of them a bit.

I never considered white leggings--good idea.

Cute dress Brenda. You and I have opposite problems, most dresses are too short so wearing leggings becomes necessary for me. Can you just wear the dress sans leggings? If that's not comfortable, shortening the dress makes sense. I like both scarves in 3 /4. Well done.

Brenda: You're experimenting with your existing wardrobe and making brighter, bolder choices. Love it! #3 is my favorite -- relaxed, but interesting, warm and approachable. Those boots are amazing and the scar is a terrific finishing touch. You've gotten lots of great ideas about the dress/leggings. I wonder if you're camera angle is muddying our view a bit -- is the camera slightly above you? I love this print!

As for legs being warm enough, I've started wearing microfishnets this spring. I'm ridiculously hard on hose, so I was excited to see No Nonsense microfishnets in nude and black at Walmart for $4. LOVE them! They add polish when I want it, and a little warmth.

I think my son was holding the camera a bit too high. But I pinned up both dresses one inch and plan to hem them. I can always let the hem out if you all tell them they are too short. It's tricky being short with even shorter legs. Hems can be right in the middle of my knee cap and I hear, "It's too long". LOL It's ok. I appreciate the wisdom I get here.

And I definitely need to get myself some nude fishnets.
