(This post turned out longer than I expected).

It took me awhile to land on a word, but I finally settled on Compass Rose, (or merely Compass). I chose this phrase for the following elements:

• Being present in the moment
• Setting a heading
• Charting a course
• Correcting course
• Looking ahead
• Perspective

More specific thematic elements would encompass (see what I did there?)...

• Sea (ocean colors and motifs, pirate themes, silk, satin)
• Sky (celestial/starry patterns, rich blues from light to dark, silver and gold)
• Earth (botanicals, florals, linen, cotton, wool, cashmere)
• Travel
• Adventure (safari, equestrian, western elements)
• Fortune (sort of that maverick vibe, throwing one's fate to the wind)

That's quite a lot of everything, right? Mainly, it's about intent - for my wardrobe, and also for my life, in 2024.

Currently in my closet:
Neutrals: white, cream, black, navy, golden, chocolate browns, with a dash of golden tan and warm taupe.
Colors: Mostly greens + blues, a few pinks and purples, and some randomly scattered orange and yellow in patterned items.
Metallics are gold, white, silver.

My color for 2024 is Pink. I have a few pink pieces already, but I'm specifically looking for a cotton pullover in a pretty neon/strawberry pink for year-round wear. I also have my eyes on a pair of pink leather heels on Poshmark.

I'm still pondering descriptors, but when I look at my closet, I see Bombshell, Practical, Easy, and Classic-With-A-Twist.

Or maybe I should call it "Ralph Lauren meets Film Noir".

I'm pretty happy with my wardrobe. I spent 2023 trying to lean into more Ralph Lauren-inspired styling, and it felt very comfortable and easy.

My goals for 2024:

• Shop secondhand and/or sustainable brands as much as possible.
• Repair what I have where possible.
• Refresh my fitness capsule.
• Replace a couple of fitted white button-down shirts.
• Reduce the amount of black clothing in my closet - particularly tops.
• Reduce the overall numbers and free up some space.
• Switch to a one-in, one-out policy.

My shopping list:

• 1-2 pairs of yoga pants or shorts
• Replace 1-2 yoga tops
• Replace a couple of sports bras
• Refresh the pajamas
• Replace a fitted white button-down shirt that is looking well-worn.
• Pink knit pullover in natural fibers
• 1-2 replacement lightweight white cotton long-sleeve tees
• Sneakers (for fitness)
• pretty light or nude hosiery (I have fair skin)

Wishlist/On My Radar:

• Turquoise/leather western belt.
• Leather bomber jacket
• Striped button-down shirt
• Chambray denim shirt
• Black Leather Belt
• Pink Heels
• Pink Slacks
• Hawaiian/hibiscus print
• Menswear vest
• A really great cognac leather bag, not too big, not too small.
• Wouldn't say no to some really great wide leg jeans.

What I DON'T need more of:

• More black anything, except for a belt
• Skirts
• Dresses
• White/cream/tan sweaters
• Fancy shoes (aforementioned pink pumps notwithstanding)
