4 for 4 from NAS!

My NAS order arrived today... only a week to get here, which I thought was impressive. I couldn't be more pleased.

1-2. The Halogen tunic in pink, with my butt vest, and with leggings
3. Black Halogen tunic (what I was supposed to order, but threw in the pink at the last minute... so glad I did
4. Stem tee. OK, so this wasn't part of NAS, but I LOVE these tees... perfect fit and drape, so I took the opportunity to get another one of these as well.
5-7. The MK trench rain coat. Now, here's a question. I don't have a waist, so belting these things makes me look icky. #5 is pulled in as much as I'd feel comfortable doing (probably more so, if I had any kind of bulk underneath) Is it acceptable to just let the belt hang (#6)? This jacket has beautiful belt hoops that can't be removed, so I hesitate to get rid of the belt altogether. Or do I just synch it up and suck it in. Literally.
I also find the waist in this just a smidge high for me... which doesn't help.

Thank you to Sveta, Beth Ann and Peri, who helped me figure out what size to order in these... I nailed it!

Hi Elizabeth. The tops are gorgeous on you. This is what I finally concluded. If the asymmetric tops fit correctly in terms of length and proportion, they are interesting and very flattering on the body. They work on you perfectly.

That cobalt is a great color on you, and I think the trench looks better with the belt undone in your photos. I think it's fine to leave the belt of a trench hanging instead of cinching it. That's what I do, even with a fairly defined waist.

You can also try pulling the belt out a few inches in back, so that it sort of hangs in back in a slight U shape. That makes the whole effect more intentional, somehow, and it takes up some of the length of the hanging parts in front.

(But I'm definitely on the RATE side of things, and touches like undone belts are part of how I achieve that. I can imagine that some people would prefer not to.)

You are bang on for those jewel tones Elizabeth! Just a little great on you. I used to tie the belt of my trenches in back, but finally got rid of them because too high PITA factor for gain. I can't stand the little wrist belts with buckles that mine had...always banging on things.

Nothing wrong with leaving the belt undone. They say that some designers deliberately place the waist a little high and that is slimming.
Doesn't work on me and I find it feels odd. I have no problem removing the belt loops and placing them where I want them or removing them altogether if I want.

I like what Burberry did with the belt. I'll try to upload a pic.

Both tunics are gorgeous on you--they look like they were made for you! The cobalt coat looks great, and I think you're on the right track to not fasten the belt.

Those tunics are smashing on you! I particularly like the pink one, and the version styled with the leatherette leggings. The cobalt trench looks good too; while I prefer the belted look from a purely visual standpoint it doesn't make sense to do it up if it's uncomfortable for you. When I don't feel like tying the belts on my trenches I usually just pop the ends into my pockets.

That orchid color tunic is absolutely stunning on you, Elizabeth! Everything else looks good, too. I'm wondering about the raincoat and if it's uncomfortable to belt your probably not going to wear it, if you're r like me:)

I like to tie my trench coat belt behind me in a bow--especially when open, but it also works when buttoned as long as you tie it last.

So glad everything worked so well for you! I would tie the belt behind (like Vildy's link), unless it were very cold or actually raining. Also, I think it might be a simple thing to rotate the belt loops down. The waist is a tad high on me too, and I think it's deliberately placed high (I notice this in all trenches these days, as opposed to those from the 80's). I may try to move one. I can always put them back. If I do, I'll let you know how it worked!

I agree you don't need to tie the belt, and I like the belt-in-pockets solution or tying it in back, too. I think you can tie it around your waist without cinching it too tightly, too. The idea is to foster an illusion of waist--no need to actually have one! Or that's what I decided, after avoiding belted coats for ages and then finally trying them--and kinda liking them.

I take a medium in Eileen fisher, and med to large in banana republic... lately more medium in the more fluid fit items. This is has more volume than my ef pieces. I'll send you both measurements if you'd like

My absolute favorite is the pink tunic - the shape and color is so wow on you. I refuse to tie belts and usually tie them behind if I can't avoid them altogether.

Just wanted to pop back on to thank everyone for the responses.

Aida, your idea for popping the belt into the pockets was genius. That's what I'm going to do. The hoops on this are a bit forward from the side seam, which makes the belt not really long enough to tie behind, which is what I would normally do. They are also riveted into place, so not moveable.

And I thought I'd just post the tunic measurements, in case more than just Sveta and Dashielle are interested. They are a little confusing because of the shape of the sweater, so feel free to ask for clarification if this doesn't make sense to you.

Size Medium:
Length from the center of the back of neck, to the bottom: 29"
Length from the shoulder to the longest point: 34" Note the shoulder is about an inch higher than the center back of neck.
Length from the shoulder seam/top of sleeve inset to the shortest point: 22" The shoulder seam does angle down a bit, so this is not taken from the same point as the longest spot.
Bust: 23" (The small is 22")
