2 X WIW: Hot and cold and sock bun 2.0

1) We were in the 80's on Monday! I tied one side of this shark bite tee up to follow the seam lines on this skirt and try to keep the proportions from looking too long in the torso. Did it work?

2) Back to regular winter temps on Tuesday. I had some dark grey shooties (#3) I could have worn, but it just made the outfit so serious and somber. I thought these black and cream flats added a fun pop. Did I make the right choice?

3) I've been curious about the sock bun trick, but feared all that twisting of hair into the sock would be damaging since my hair breaks easily. I found this great variation on pinterest:

I really like the outfit in 2-3. For some reason I can't place my finger on it yet why but the proportion in 1 doesn't seem so appealing to me. I'll ponder some more and come back to edit if I can figure it out.

Kalli, it's probably the long tee. That's why I tied up one side to help with the proportions.

Alaskagirl, yes the skirt is from Target. I really like it and bought it for my summer wear. There is a lining, but I do think it would cling to tights. However, your pleather leggings would probably work. : )

I really like both outfits! Nice trick with the tied shirt in 1, it makes a simple tee into a cool asymmetrical top. Works really well in my opinion.

I really like #1. I like the solid with the striped skirt and the floaty top is very nice for a bit of volume over the slim skirt.

The jacket in #2/3 is fab on you as well.

In #1, great idea! The tie on the side works. I thought at first the top was made like that, and I really like the diagonal line and as Dianthus says, the way it floats over the skirt. Your choice of ballet flats with the second outfit is great--I love the crisp, feminine touch they bring to the outfit.

Gosh, but I love that outfit in 2-3 on you! Your bun is adorable and that jacket suits you to a tee!! I agree that the black and cream flats are the better choice, and make the outfit more spring-ish.

Love both looks. I recognized that skirt - because I too saw it at Target and debated about it, but didn't have time to try it on. Now seeing it on you, it makes me want to go back and check it out! Your idea of tieing up one side of the tee is great - I think it really works with the lines of the skirt. The 2nd outfit, with the two-toned shoes is perfect. I love the grays! What (may I ask) is the jacket? It looks like it might be jersey material????

Marley, you need to check the skirt out. I like it a lot. It reminds me of the Bailey 44 dress, but at a price I can afford. : P

The moto jacket is from Gap a couple of years ago and it's a denim material. It just has a great faded black wash to it.
