2 weeks into SYC

For the record, I’m not really in no buy mode but I am trying to SYC. Thought this exercise would help me identify the chaff and make me work on outfit creation rather than relying on FFBO. No revelations yet except that I don’t like being cold and that is how I ultimately decide what to wear even if I have planned something out ahead of time. I was able to clear out a few winter things that just weren’t practical for layering and/or didn’t seem to suit my style anymore so that is pretty exciting! My goal is to avoid exact outfit repeats until the weather changes—that’s where hopefully the creativity comes into play. We will see. Thanks for looking!
1: Weekend shopping/errands. Broke out the satchel. Still currently in rotation.
2: Work
3: Saturday lunch on the coast/WIW for Christmas (oops)
4-8: Work (theme is staying warm in my frigid office)
9: one last try on before I cut the tags.

Great goals and outfits. My favorite is the second in the second photo, although I love that scarf you are wearing in the first outfit of#2 and your fun faux fur coat in #9. Cute pup.

You would have to come up with a very good excuse not to keep that coat, the YLF crew has expectations you know:-)
I love that coat and I actually covet it, I am in Canada so it’s likely a good thing it’s not available anymore, not in my size anyway.
Looking at these pictures I just don’t know how you can up your game any more while still sticking to your goals. You look consistently fabulous, not only in this set but it’s how your WIWs always look. You have variety in silhouette, colour, texture and fit. Your hair ✅, makeup ✅ .

I love you in earth tones! I think I might prefer them to black on you (and you look great in black). My favourites are the jeans outfit with the mustard scarf and the dark dress with the rust long cardigan.

The faux fur!!! Awesome sauce!! You’re doing a good job mixing it up. This deep in winter, I just want to be warm and wear my same sweaters over and over.

My favorites are the denim shirt dress + cardigan and the salmon pink wrap shirt: such a pretty color on you. As usual, you make dresses look tough and cool like no one else!

and yes to this exercise helping to break out of FFBO, especially this time of year when its so easy to just rely on the familiar. these are all good, and i like the variety of silhouettes.

I love that shade of dusty pink on you, but all of your outfits are so so good. That faux fur is super cool with your boot collection. Did you cut the tags?

Going to repeat the word "consistent"as mentioned already - every outfit is fab! Boots, jeans, sweaters, scarves - every single outfit rocks. Especially love that black leather jacket with the peep of animal print, and your booties, and that faux fur is amazing! You have a very lovely closetful of clothes that work for you.

Wide jeans + faux fur + adorable dog is a super duper but all of your outfits are great. The two in #3 are my next favorites but really these are all great.

Keep the furry pets(both!:-)) my fave is nr 9!!!!! (esp love the so rare tan booties, to it!). And, I see you paired the same way the wide hems to these in nr 1, right side, is there a prefference, and can I ask you why? (just checking my own insecurities regarding dressier shoe choices to lighter colored wide crop hems).

@Joy: Thank you. I have gotten so much use out of that Target scarf. Part of it is the colors, the other part is the shape. I have so many rectangular scarves but I really like the angles that the square scarves make.

@Tina: Haha. Thank you. I have cut the tags. It gets to stay. I’m sorry that you couldn’t find it in Canada. It’s probably because it’s not warm enough for your climate--it looks furry and warm but it is deceivingly not! Happy that my style looks consistent. That’s a huge compliment!

@Smittie: Thank you! I am loving black less and less these days. Still kind of a default because that’s what I have but I’m trying not to buy anymore.

@Notsaf: Thank you. I struggle with the denim dress. It came with a self belt and I’ve tried with my own belts but it always feels slightly off. Unbelted with a long cardi is the only way I’ve felt like it works for me.

@April: Thank you. The shirt dress is Gap. It’s the only place I’ve been able to get shirt dresses to fit. I’ve tried Boden, 1901, various others but I always end up back at Gap. They must cater to swimmers.

@sara: Thanks! I love the white puffer. I’ve always wanted one but was loathe to spend much money on something that I could get dirty so easily. It’s strictly weekend wear but it’s surprisingly warm and cozy. Goes with everything too.

@lyn: Thank you! The light suede booties seem to work really well with crops. I think because they’re so low contrast with my skin. They’re also suede which makes them seem less dressy but still polished enough to elevate the casual frayed edge of the lighwash crops. Does that make sense? I haven’t tried light booties with the black crops but I think my preference is for a darker booties. Will have to give it a try when the weather warms up again.
