1st fall outfit (for French and flat picking)

I couldn't resist the alliteration! It's feeling like early fall today, and I loved getting really dressed - with shoes! After work tonight I am attending an open house of a local language school to sign up for conversational French (time to tackle a bucket list item) and then it's on to listen to some guitar music with Michael (hence the flat picking).

I'm wearing an outfit that is comfortable and feels pulled together. I have no idea if this is on trend or not, but I think it works. What do you think?

Sweater: Paul Smith (on sale); I am a huge fan of his stripes
Jeans: CQY high-rise straights
Shoes: Maguire

Thanks Katerina! The oxfords are black - I had dark blue ones last year and loved them.

I really appreciate the comments about fit. I'm aiming for more "relaxed but elegant" as Irina put it so well.

I wish I was as insouciantly pretty as you (I made that expression up just now). You wear these tomboy looks SO well, without sacrificing your femininity. Just love it . I too have no idea if anything is on-trend either but frankly don't care anymore.

Rachylou, I thought it was good for French class, too. Then I met one of the instructors: beautiful dark curly bob, midi navy a-line dress, short navy cashmere cardigan, navy ballet flats. I was seriously out-Frenched.

Angie, thank you! I had a Paul Smith sweater a few years ago and after washing it was a bit small (so I got rid of it). I ordered this one a size larger, and it turns out it's a completely different fit - more of a sweatshirt style, with raglan sleeves and a wider waistband. The larger size and more fluid fit - especially with the high quality merino wool - is just a dream. I love the ease of it.
