As I counted up the weeks, I guessed it will be at least another month before I get a trim. What was the longest hair I ever had? Early 1970s for sure. My fine hair just doesn't get very long before breaking off.

For fun: 1970-71 fashion parade. I was still growing out a misadventure with a peroxide kit when everyone was trying to be a blonde.

#1 My birthday. I think we went to Lawry's on Restaurant Row, La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles. Oops, Google tells me it was West Hollywood. My sister crocheted the shawl, dress a present from Mr. M., and lace up granny boots in patent leather from Kinney's. Locket and ribbon--looks like something I put together.

#2 Turtleneck, wide white belt, bell bottoms. Busch Gardens in Van Nuys. I was wearing multi-colored sneakers.

#3 In front of our house in Studio City. (Now an apartment building.) I made this dress myself. I think it was a Vogue pattern, nice lightweight wool fabric, probably from New York Silk--the store was near the La Brea Tar Pits. My boys

Even though it was an adventurous fashion era, there were still rules. Women were supposed to cut their hair short at age 40. Seems silly doesn't it?

Would it hurt to grow my hair a few more inches now? Just for fun?
