The ankle strapped sandal is the style of the season. These work quite well for a wider foot, and you might need to size down half a size. Super comfortable, soft leather, textured and casually elegant. Read the rave reviews. Also available in black, red, rose and turquoise.

Ryker Sandal
The tiny wedge heel prevents the sandal from feeling too flat. The reviews suggest that the ankle strap is too large although I did not find that to be the case. Any tighter and it would have rubbed my skin silly. Love the convenience of the back zipper. Pretty comfy, minimalist and modern. These would be mine if I wore sandals. Also available in solid black, but I vote snakeskin all the way.
As I write these sandals are on sale for $69.99.
‘Serena’ Sandal
The broad ankle strap that’s positioned above the ankle bone is the sandal look of the season, and it’s pretty comfy in a well designed sandal like this one. Great on feet that can fill out the style. Wear a low contrast colour to offset the cutting horizontal line on bare legs. Also available in Classic Nude and Neon Coral/Saddle.
As I write these sandals are on sale for $97.99.
Trina Sandal
A fabulous smart casual sandal suited to hot Summer days. It’s low-heeled, quite refined, and complete with sci-fi metallic block heel and prominent broad ankle straps. The footbed is pretty soft and so are the leather straps. The style is fun and minimally modern. I found the toebox quite roomy and the fit true to size. Warning: the sandal exposes a lot of foot and accentuates already long toes. Also available in Beige Snake/Saddle, Natural/Off White, Neon Yellow/Natural, Red Ink and Whiskey.

‘Calla’ Mary Jane Pump
I squealed with joy when one of my clients fitted on these darlings. Good grief these pumps are fabulous. Although not super soft, they are pretty comfy for a $49.95 shoe. Dainty with just the right amount of graphic appeal. They run true to size and will accommodate an insole or orthotic. I almost bought them too, but wished that they were more white than black.
Chuck Taylor All Star Core Hi Sneakers
This Chuck Taylor hi-top sneaker is a true classic. It’s been around for decades and is not going to go out of style any time soon. Especially not in an all-round versatile colour like this red version. They’re a fun way to try out the 2013 sassy sneaker trend. Check out these tips on how to wear them with a sophisticated edge. Add an insole for cushioning comfort. Also available in black, black monochrome, navy, optical white, white, pink and a ton of other colours.
Converse Women’s All Star Hi-Ness
Have a squizz at these if you like the classic Converse but can’t handle a completely flat sneaker. The baby wedge provides a nice lift, and is very on trend. Pop in an insole for extra comfort. Fab with all types of jeans and pants. Fun and fashion forward with frocks and skirts. These sneakers run small, so you may need to go up a size. Also available in black, red and navy.
Sam Edelman ‘Jayden’ Oxford
You’ll be sporting two top S/S 2013 footwear trends in one with these silver metallic oxfords: the sci-fi look and flat oxford trend. Fun! The cutouts make them breezy for warmer temps. The tonal studs add extra textural interest. I had them on a client recently and they are comfortable. You will need to add an orthotic for arch support. The ‘Jayden’ is also available in this nude/off-white combo, and in black/black snake.
Cole Haan Sabrina Loafer
This super little loafer with contrasting trim comes in three fab colours, but my vote goes to the Bronze Oil Sequins: fresh and modern. It has a cushioned footbed and Nike Air technology in the heel. Wear it with anything from pencil skirts and flirty frocks, cigarette pants, shorts and clamdiggers, to boyfriend jeans and slouchy trousers.
As I write these loafers are on sale for $159.90.
