So with the foundation set, I am packing you and your SO off to a fab working week vacation to…. Paris!!!

So your itinerary says:

cocktail party with SO and colleagues
Theater opening
3 days of site seeing

So your challenge is ,you need to come up with 3 outfits: 1 for each event. As a bonus -if you feel up to it-you can add your traveling outfit.

Absolutely! Challenge accepted. I am out of town for the weekend, but will work on completing this early next week. It will be awesome, although I could NEVER convince my SO to go to Paris!

This is a great exercise since I'm getting ready to shop for spring an hopefully with will highlight wardrobe holes.

UPDATE ON THIS CHALLENGE: I've been in touch with Elly via PM and it so happens that her challenge landed just before she went out of town for a few days. Elly is back now, at work today, and is hoping to post her results by tonight.

I know we're all intrigued to see the Parisian challenge, so stay tuned...

Alright, ladies. Here is my best shot. I realized about 15 min in that the only rooms that are big enough to get a full-body shot in my place don't have overhead lighting, so please excuse the chopped up outfits.

No outerwear or handbags (don't have a Paris in the "cold rainy season" appropriate option). Limited accessories (wasn't sure what to wear to Paris, plus "I'll get through security more quickly" ). The striped "scarf" in shot one is actually a t-shirt since I don't have an indoor-outdoor scarf ATM. No bonus travel outfit -- TBH, I usually wear jeans, a tee, slip-off boots, and a decent jacket when I fly, even on the 14-hour hauls. So picture outfit one with a navy top.

Ideally, I could pack this all (a clean pair of jeans, and a couple extra tops) in a carry on and still have room for a few purchases.

Shots 1-5 are the three sight-seeing outfits. The boots are 10- hour shoes, with a rubber sole perfect for rain. Picture shots 3-4 with thick leggings (mine are in the wash). Six and 7 are the cocktail party shots. I would re-wear the black pencil with the draped turtle and oxfords for the theatre opening.

Sorry for the delay, but how is that for a go at it?

P.S. please excuse the hair-- it was up at work today, under a hat during our snowstorm, got rained on, and I'm overdue for a haircut by about 4 weeks (going Thursday).

Love your site-seeing outfits (beanie is great on you), the LBD with the oxfords = awesome, and that amazing crossover turtleneck in the last shot. Share with us what items you are wearing? (probably out of my price range, but maybe I can find a copycat...)

Elly, you are so beautiful! And it is wonderful to see these outfits. If you were on the streets of Paris, you would be turning heads for sure. Love every one of these. #1 is tomboy thrown-together chic, as Angie describes Shevia's style (and that is a high compliment!). Then, there is the ease and avant-garde sophistication of the jacket worn different ways and especially with the sweater. Love! And our art gallery opening outfit is just sublime. SUPER stylish with the oxfords -- it's a fun and slightly unexpected combination. This is real style. Brava!!

Rabbit-- you made me laugh! The beanie is cashmere and a gift from a YLFer (we do a secret santa and the lovely Biscuitsmom purchased it for me!). The leather jacket is from Speigel this August and was on sale for $35. The turtle is a Ralph Lauren number I picked up at a TJMaxx for about $30 dollars. The boots are Miz Mooz and so are the oxfords, both purchased off Zappos. The blouse worn with the pencil to the cocktail 'do is also a TJ Maxx $13 dollar find. The pencil skirt is a Halogen ponte knit from Nordies they bring back most years, and I think I paid about $40 for it, but it is fully lined, etc. The grey tunic/dress is probably 6 years old, but it was purchased at TJMaxx. I'm on a tight budget. Luckily, with the dark eyes and hair, I can get away with loving black.

Suz, as always, I appreciate your comments! I admire Shevia's look. I wear my Speigel jacket pretty often when I'm not getting dirty at work, and definitely outside of work as well. It has definitely paid for itself. I also wear the blouse from the cocktail outfit regularly over a black l/s tee, just untucked. It is one of my favorite outfits. The draped turtle was what I wore to my job interview-- I've also worn it to work, to funerals, etc. It is nice to hear that I "do" have an eye. It just gets lost in a lot of my day-to-day dressing because of the "mom-to-go" factor the new job has. Spring and summer transitions should be an interesting challenge, as will be finding some tops and toppers that keep the tomboy "thrown together" vibe going without looking like I get dressed in the dark.

You look so great in these, Elly! I love your jacket, especially how versatile the collar is, and I REALLY love outfit #4/5. I can totally picture you walking down the streets of Paris in these outfits (although having never been to Paris, my picturing looks like something from a movie... complete with rosy lamp lights and a soundtrack. The important point is that you fit right in with that vision.)

P.S. I love your name, my daughter was "Ellie".
