My fellow THG fan friends and I decided months ago that 1) we would be attending the midnight showing of The Hunger Games movie, and 2) we would go dressed like we were (rebels) from the Capitol.

For those who aren't familiar with the series, you should know that the Capitol citizens dress very strangely - like '80s couture mixed with Alice in Wonderland. It's very colorful and bright, very strange, and there's lots of skin decoration. It's also very matchy-matchy; if their hair is blue, their skin may also be blue, or their skirt, or their lipstick.

So, basically, this was an excuse to go out in public looking completely, but somewhat fashionably, bizarre - and it was awesome! We got tons of compliments. We went out for dinner before going to the theater, and even completely removed from the movie context, a stranger came up to us and said, "Are you guys supposed to be from the Hunger Games Capitol?" We said yes, and she enthusiastically told us, "That is so awesome! You look great!" And then when we got to the theater, people wanted pictures with us, and our auditorium started clapping and cheering for us after we walked in! Ha! So we had a great time even before the movie started, thanks to our silliness. (But for the record, the movie was AWESOME. I highly recommend that if you haven't read the book, though, that you do that first, or have someone who has read them go with you to fill in the blanks that the movie never fills in.)

Since this is a WIW, should I tell you what I wore? I think so.

Wig: eBay
Earrings: borrowed from a friend
Mockingjay necklace: Etsy
Bracelets: Kohl's
Dress: Nicole Miller Collection (thrifted for $4. Then I found out it's a $300+ dress!)
Jacket: Xhilaration (thrifted)
Tights: Xhilaration (Target)
Boots: Apostrophe (thrifted)

Anyone else out there seen the movie yet? What did you think (non-spoilery)?
