WIW: Putting my Boho Luxe Blouse on the (Modern Classic) Straight & Narrow

Some of you may remember my posting about having to pull together a color palette-driven spring/summer (mostly) work capsule in a hurry...

...and how I managed to justify adding a voluminous, sheer white silk blouse to it despite not being much of a blouse person and knowing it sort of envelops me, ha.

I think I bought the [Vince] blouse in March when it went on sale -- then cut the tags off and had the front chopped about 3" when it got marked down again in April.

I've been wearing it a lot since, but mostly Barely Boho style (photo #4).

Finally got around to putting it in my primary Contrarian Classicist style (photo # 1-2)...quite fun if a little Michael Jackson-ish walking home with the jacket off and a strong breeze!

A very similar Vince blouse in a gorgeous mulberry color (photo #5) is in the NAS at what I would consider "still a splurge" price -- but boy, Vince silk does feel goooood. I saw the color in person and it's a little less muted.

Vix- I love that white blouse. Just beautiful. I think your degree of boho is spot on and you look great in it! Just love the movement and somehow there is a bit of structure also. Like that Vince blouse in the mulberry as well. Thanks for sharing.

Gorgeous blouse! Movement, flow and texture are so important to beautiful clothing that is a pleasure to wear. How clever are you to style it for a classic office environment! You look lovely, and I can see the mulberry one crying for a new home!

It is a beautiful blouse and I like the way you altered it. If you got the new one, will you be altering it also? I think the sleeves are set in not dolman.

edit - I am wrong, the sleeves are dolman and it looks like the front is already shorter than the back.

It certainly looks like it feels lovely too. I agree with Eliza that you have just the right degree of bohemian. Both stylings are gorgeous. though as I'm not at all familiar with suit type corporate wear, my favourite is the skirt outfit.
The mullbery blouse sure would be tempting.

Many thanks for the compliments. Those who called out the blouse's easy-breezy flow when in motion really nailed what sold me on it (M Jackson impersonation or no...).

Sorry, there's no way can I justify giving my white blouse a mulberry sibling -- my duvet's about that color, and that will have to suffice!

But who here will let me live vicariously through them, hmmmmm?

ps Deb, the white one was originally shorter in front than back, I just had it chopped shorter. On me it hit about crotch-length, and that when that happens no es bueno. Altered, I can wear it shorter or longer in the front due to the cut. Haven't tried a midriff-baring look yet.

Vix, you know I'm a HUGE fan of your style. The thought you put into your wardrobe (color and stylewise) is a real inspiration.

This Vince blouse looks like a fabulous addition. And I love that you altered it just a snitch to make it perfect. It looks great in both your classic and boho incarnations.

I, too, love the thought and sureness you put into your wardrobe additions and especially those alterations (even a bit shorter in front, creating V-neck, letting down hems).

The blouse is beautiful on you both ways. I love pieces that are such style chameleons. I splurged on the non-sale gray silk blouse because I know I can wear it a lot of different ways, and I could practically pick something from my closet blindfolded and it would go with the blouse--and it feels luscious on. Your blouse looks so sumptuous. Blowzy, not enveloping. Colorwise, white would not work for me as it does for you. Gray is my white, it seems.

OMG Vix, I would love to swap closets and play around in yours. I have the feeling I'd be running my fingers over everything--all those silky soft clothes! And we share a love of pattern. I love Missoni too, though mine is the Target version.
