This is a bit embarrassing. I have had (almost) all my hair chopped off in an impulsive fit of disgust with my growing out roots. An especially clever thing to do when we are about to host Passover seder for 13 guests and see a number of people we only see once or twice a year! My husband, poor guy, hates it (not that he said that). He felt so badly he bought me a bunch of flowers and two rose bushes to plant in the garden.

Anyway, I will be staying under hat for a while (I am sure it will grow out within a year or so) but he convinced me I had better come out with it here.

I am showing you my latest thrift find for distraction - Christian Lacroix Bazar cloth bag. I am the only one who looks at the non-leather bags at my thrift store.

Oh!!! I really like it Shevia, it's so impish! I want to see the front end spiked up a bit now When it starts to grow out and gets a little wavier it's going to be super fun and even more impish. I think the cut actually highlights your grays in a really nice way, it looks very purposeful. Cute bag, you have such great luck at the thrift stores.

Oh my goodness! You are all so sweet! Aida I am so going to ask you what to do when it gets a bit longer. The thing is this stubby hair is actually more work than my previous hair - I have no idea which direction to point it! It is also very hard to see myself objectively because I suddenly look a lot more like my mother. Sigh. I really appreciate your support Carrie and Debora and Aida, thank you so much.

Yeah, curly hair tends to be more and more work the shorter it gets unfortunately. I like the off-center spiral part (at least that's what it looks like to me), with the hair pointing radially away from the center-point. From there the front can go forward and then up! Actually, go back and look at some of Angie's outfit posts with shorter hair. I think you could do something similar. Once it starts to grow out it'll probably take even more of a mind of its own, so I say tackle that when it gets there and not worry too much about that now

Well I LOVE your hair cut. It really does make your cheekbones and your beautiful eyes stand out. Maybe it's just going to take a little while to get Used to it and find the trick to styling it. In the meantime, your outfit is fantastic, love the shoes and the hat, love the hat!

Actually, I LOVE this on you. For reals. I have done the same to my hair but it never looks as good as this because my face is not up to such exposure. You look younger and sassier somehow!

Haircut is amazing! You have such a beautiful face, and this cut shows it off wonderfully. I know you want to grow it out, but why not enjoy the cute look you've got going now?

If it wasn't for your smile I would not have recognised you. Stunning does not even begin to describe it. This is exactly what the right kind of short do on a woman should look like. (ETA: I'm not talking about young woman, a girl, but a woman who knows life and herself, who is not afraid of losing one of the most visible signs she is a woman. This is one of a few YLF hairstyle transformations that really make me speechless.) You look fresh and mature at the same time, classy and cheeky, fun and confident. Your natural beauty really shines.

By all means do not hide under the hats unless it's to protect you from the sun.

Husbands can be strange creatures and can be stuck in their ways and how they see us style-wise. Transformations of this sort may, however, be interpreted on a bigger scale, like "is my wife turning into someone else"? So we need to be gentle and smart and just enjoy our happy selves, and they will eventually change their minds.

I am not generally a big fan of short hair, but you are one of those women who has the right face/head shapes to look good with short hair. And the bag is nice!

I am just flabberghasted and overwhelmed by all your sweet comments. I really had hesitated to post because I did not want to force you all to find tactful ways to tell me there, there it will grow back. But I guess you like it, you really like it (anyone get the Sally Field reference or am I just amusing myself?). You really like it? No, sorry, I am laughing at myself now. Well I certainly will face my friends with sassy attitude knowing that I may one of the few people whose grey hair makes her look younger (thank you Una, Kristin and Mona)!

You are all so thoughtful, really I am just sputtering. Kelly it made me so happy to be understood about seeing my mother in the mirror. Ornella you are very wise. One of my daughters burst out crying when she saw me and begged me to change it back - that was rough (she got over it faster than I did). Deborah, thank you for saying I look feminine. I have no problem seeing others as looking feminine with very short hair (Angie and Shannon come to mind), but I was not sure about myself. Deb, Carla, Niefern, Ceit, Ingunn, Elizabeth and Pil please know my first sentence refers to you. Also the sentence about sputtering. And Raisin and Mona I am no expert on who can pull off short hair, but you are both gorgeous and if I can do it so can you. I hope I haven't missed anyone; it is not intentional. You are all the greatest!
