Yep, the faux fur is coming out to play! Actually, it's come out quite frequently since I received it, as it seems to magically match any outfit I add it to. But as I haven't been documenting my outfits, this is its debut for the forum!

The outfit was actually inspired by both Grace, with her recent post about winter shorts, and Janet, who wore a cardigan backwards. The weather forecast today was cool but not cold, so I thought it would be perfect to wear my own winter shorts, which are considerably shorter than Grace's and thus more suitable for in-between weather. I wanted to try wearing a cardigan backwards, so I grabbed the top one on the pile (one of my favourites) and gave it a go. Unfortunately, the back of the neck was too high for it to feel comfortable, so I had to turn it around and wear it the regular way. I left it buttoned up like a jumper/pullover though. And then I thought this would be a perfect outfit to finish up with the fur! I added brown tights to play with all of the colours in the cowl (scarflette? collar? not sure what this is), and my grey-brown boots to finish things off. Honestly, I was out the door to run errands before I remembered jewelry, so today was a no jewelry day!

As Michelle has rejoined the forum, I thought I would take a stab at describing this: I'm wear a buttoned up cardigan on top. It's a soft, heathered seafoam green cashmere one with a fluid fit that hits me at high hip, with dark mother-of-pearl buttons. Over top of it, I'm wearing a short faux fur collar that has silvery grey, brown, and taupe in it. On bottom, I'm wearing medium grey wool shorts that are full and end mid-thigh, with black button detailing that's a little bit nautical, and dark brown cotton tights that are fairly opaque. My boots come to just below my knee, are a dark grey-brown colour, with a rounded toe and sturdy sole and 1" heel, and one tiny button on the outside of each one.

I'm pretty exhausted after running my errands, so I'm off to curl up with a book (Emily's Quest by LM Montgomery) and relax for awhile. I definitely have a high happiness factor today: the wool and cashmere and fur feel luxurious and comforting while the shorts add the touch of whimsy that the forum has made me realise I need to feel completely me. But more on that soon!

As always, all comments, suggestions, & critiques are welcome. I do wonder at what age I'll be too old for mid-thigh shorts! But I think they're so much more figure flattering than knee high ones, for me at least. Am I right in thinking the faux fur scarf blends well with my style or should I work harder to build outfits around it?
