Hello, ladies. I haven’t seen WIW posts with winter shorts lately so I thought I’d offer my version. I wore this pair earlier this week, when the temps were around 45°. I see this outfit as one neutral, one accent color and two textures (scarf and pebbly sweater). Posting photo with outerwear, morning wear, then warmer, afternoon version... layering is so helpful!

Gorgeous! You look amazing! I love the mix of textures and the way the scarf ties in the various pieces. You look so good in mustard as well.

Seriously amazing. The last time I wore winter shorts would have been the 90's and I have wanted to try it again. This combination is so cool looking. Very streamlined, I love the darker colours....perfect.

Thank you for all the nice comments, fab ladies. Wearing shorts is giving me the silhouette variation I've been craving. Two more pairs of winter shorts from last season await, and I'm hoping the weather will cooperate the next few weeks.

This is a super cute and well put together outfit for work! I don't know why I can't bring myself to wear winter shorts, even dressy ones with tights...I think it reminds me too much of middle school, because that was the style back then too, in the early 90s. I'd rather just wear a skirt if I'm gonna wear shorts... But these are perfect--the fit and the length--they are impeccable. Thanks for the inspiration!

The shorts look great on you! I also really like how the gold details on the belt tie in with the sweater.

VernieJane, you reminded me of the only pair of winter shorts I've ever had. They were red and black checked flannel and I wore them with a red fisherman sweater, black tights, and black chunky mary janes during freshman year of high school. Extremely 90s!

You look great! I've always seen winter shorts with a shorter inseam than you are wearing. I love the longer inseam look. I think it keeps them looking more appropriate to the season. Now I'm wondering if I have any longer shorts that might work for a winter outfit.

You look fantastic in this ensemble! In addition to the flattering cut of the shorts I love the neckline of the mustard sweater. Can honestly say I have not worn winter shorts since the 90's. However, I would be open to trying it again since I live in a mild winter climate.

Gorgeous. I got some trousers shortened to shorts at the end of last summer, I'd left it so late that it was too cold to wear them so I've been wearing them all winter with tights and boots and it's turned into one of my favourite looks x

I guess I'm the Only One wearing winter shorts in the forum! They fit my tomboy style very well, and I find the freedom of movement they provide, energizing, (as opposed to wearing a skirt.) I need to find creative mixes for my other two pairs of winter shorts so I can post them too. Maybe some day they will come back in style, meanwhile I'll keep wearing them with abandon

How cute! I have a pair of winter shorts that I love (they were in my Thanksgiving post) and wear, but since we were having a real cold snap I was too busy enjoying my warmer clothes that I don't usually get to pull out! I'm sure I'll be grabbing my shorts again soon. They're shorter than yours though.

So funny what you say about skirt movement: that's why I only wear full skirts that allow me a full range! I used to try to get myself to wear pencil skirts, because they're always on those 'women's must have' lists, but I hated not being able to walk in my normal stride.
