WIW Boots and Jeans - YouLookFab Forum

Hi,

My winter wardrobe consists heavily of the theme: jeans, boots and sweater. This week was no different.

#1-A furry vest
I was not a fan of the furry vest look, so of course I went out and picked one up.

#2-Ugg-like Boots
These boots are the closest I get to Uggs. They have walked many, many miles and are still in tip top shape.

#3/-4Blazer
These boots are also getting a lot of miles and I couldn't be happier in them. (Excuse the buckles, too lazy to re-buckle for a photo)

#5-More Boots
These boots were sitting on the side for a while, then the lightbulb went off to cuff them. I think the cuffed length is better. Previously they flared outand kept hitting me in the kneecap. Also I think they FINALLY broke in, first 8 hour day and I didn't want to take them off by end of day.

I like #3 and 5!
In #1 there is something about that skinny belt against all that texture in the vest doesn't work for me. And in #2 would love to see it with boots from 3 or 5. I love both pairs!

I really like #3 and 5. I think you look more balanced in skinnies when your tops are longer - I like colors in #2 but would prefer top to be longer.
#1 I do not like the bulk which this vest creates belting makes this bulk more prominent IMO.

Since you asked, not a fan of the fuzzy vest. Really like the scarf in 2, and like where the length of that top sits. I, personally, try to avoid having tops at my widest part (sorta like in 1 & 5) - you have a great figure, and this length doesn't serve you to your best potential (imho). Lovin the boots in 1, 3 & 5!

An interesting point was brought up, and one I've been wondering about. Top lengths with skinnies. Should they always cover the bum area? I've been trying to figure out where tops should hit on the leg with skinnies versus bootcuts. Was there a post on this? I know there was one for skirts versus trousers, but how about skinnies versus bootcuts?

1,3 and 5 are my faves. I love the texture of the fuzzy vest. It's a fun piece! How does it look without the belt? Have you tried it with a longer tee? #3--love the blazer and boots look. You own this look! #5: I just love, period! The scarf, the dark wash jeans and your fab OTK's are killer.

Love #3 and #5. The boots in #5 are SWEET. Not loving the belt with vest but I am no belt-master (mistress?)...

And there is no shame in Uggs. IMHO.

I think you got some great variety with your usual winter apparel. A few months ago I wouldn't have like the fuzzy vest but that style had really grown on me and now I think it really adds something special.

I hope people will give ideas on length of tops with skinny jeans. I'm curious too. I'm not sure about a really short top unless a person's figure allows it but I don't think they have to be tunic length either.

It is great that you have a reliable "uniform". Number 5 is my favorite with those beautiful boots. I can see the shaggy vest totally working in a different way, maybe with your skinny jeans, those phenomenal boots from #5, a thick belt and an under layer top that is pretty close to the same color as the vest. The vest makes a statement on its own and contrast between the purple top and the vest seems too busy.

I know you're a colour gal, but my absolute favourite outfit here is monochromatic #3. It's simply KILLER.

3 is my favorite as well - I love the subtle pattern of the blouse, the shaping on the blazer, and the urban detail of the boots.

Ditto for me and 3: I just love the jacket over the print top! I like the fuzzy vest (maybe without the belt and a slightly longer top, as Kelly mentions?) and the other looks too.

Thanks everyone for your positive feedback and for loving my boot collection. Both were not easy on my wallet but were well worth the money and I would recommend either pair in a heartbeat.

I'm going to try the vest unbelted with a longer top, thanks for the idea.
