Hi,

I have a few closet orphans I was trying to make work this week.

#1-#4Gray Sweater Vest
I don't find this vest comfortable to layer over, but I can't think of anything else to layer under it. It's too long for my dresses. Outfit #1/#2 are how I wore it, the rest are variations.

#5-#7Wide Short Sleeves
This is another top I do not find layering over comfortable due to the wide short sleeves. Also I'm thinking it's a tad snug around the bum? The necklace I've had all summer, and never wore.

#8-#10-Sweater Coat
I'm still trying to find a place for this shirt, did any of these work? Hubby loves this shirt on me. #8 is how I wore it. #10-is folded over, if the tucked in work looks best, I'm thinking I'll have to swap out these leans (with no belt loops and a tad tight in the high hip area) for a pair of skinnies? The thin belt in #9 is another item that sat all summer unworn.

The gray sweater vest looks super cozy, I particularly like it in photo #3. Would you consider keeping it for wearing inside when it's cold? I have some less glamorous options that I change into at home to keep my nicer clothes from getting attacked by my cats... I would keep this for one of those.

The wide short sleeves aren't flattering, toss.

For the sweater coat outfit, I think 9 works well for the shirt without the sweater coat, but 10 looks better as is. The sweater coat isn't singing to me, what do you think of it?

I love, love, love that first vest! I like it best slightly unzipped in #3. Have you tried it with a bootcut jean?

Also love 5 and 6 but not crazy about the pearls. The scale and color seem to delicate with the vest. Maybe a chunkier metal chain, or some colored beads? I think your bum looks awesome!

Love those tall boots in 8 9 and 10. I like #8 best of these three.

Great closet orphans.I think you've made good use of them.
Gray vest - I think it looks great .Personally I prefer it open as in #4 but it's wonderful.
Wide short sleeves- That is a fab sweater.The pearls also seem a bit too delicate for me.I would wear it with a colorful scarf.
Sweater coat- I like that coat and I think it works really well in #9.The boots are stealing the show though

I like the grey sweater vest best in the third picture, it looks too 'buttoned up' in the first one and too sloppy in the fourth. It's quite a slim fit so I would be inclined to pair it with bootcut jeans x

Great job experimenting with these orphans! Love the way you've worn the vest in #3, with the zipper partly undone. I like the you've styled the top in 5/6/7, but agree that the pearls aren't quite right with it. I think celia's suggestion of a colorful scarf is wonderful. I'm not a fan of sweater coats, so I'll leave the comments to those who can be more objective!

I never would have tied together the idea to wear bootcuts with the sweater-vest since it is a bulky piece. Thanks.

The wide short sleeves top is getting mixed reviews so far. And it looks like there's a reason why I never wore the chain/pearls necklace. Doesn't seem to fit with any of my outfits.

The sweater coat is getting mixed reviews too, hmm.

I like orphans 1 and 3 and think both would be useful and cozy. However, I'm not liking the sweatercoat with the buttondown - could just be my own bias against buttondown shirts. Not a fan of the short sleeves, but I think that's a strong look you either love or don't.

You know, if it were really cold I might go crazy and put the sweater coat over either of the first two. Just a thought!

I like the vest best in pic 3 - but I think I'd like it even better if you were to flap down both sides of the collar - rather than just the one. Did you try that?
Not a fan of the wide sleeved top - if it were me I'd donate that one.
Also, in general not a fan of sweater coats, so I'm not a good one to give you an opinion on that one! However, of your 3 looks - I like it with the wide belt best! AND absolutely love your boots!

Marley -Thanks! I tried flapping down both collar sides, but only one goes down, the collar is a bit thick and stiff and the other side doesn't stay. Thanks for the boot love!
