Tu fais mauvais genre (You look disreputable)

That's what DH told me upon seeing me in these.

After seeing Goldenpig's cute floral pants http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....s-dh-right, I was inspire to get these new leopard print low rise skinnies. It has all the defaults I swore I would forever stay away from. Rise way too low, stretch I know will end up bagging, shockingly too tight, bringing attention to my short legs... And yet here I am, totally in love.

When I showed up to pick up DH from work, he immediately frowned: "What are those???!"
- They're pants, I replied calmly.
- Oh, no, no, no, K, you can't. I mean. It's not you!!! Now that is a fashion mistake.
- Really?
- Well, I won't say anything but... ahem... what's new?
- E. (common friend) called. She was chatty. We arranged to meet up early next week for lunch.
- Well I'm not going to any restaurant if you are wearing these... these... laideur (ugliness).
- Who said you were invited? (laugh). You should get used to them, you know, because I feel I'll be wearing them a lot!

Now your turn. What do you think? Do I do "disreputable" in these?

Lol, disreputable? Only if by disreputable he means classy but probably fun at parties. I think the cut makes your legs look long and slim.

You look edgy, cool, and interesting. You look like someone I'd like to talk to, and find out what you've been reading lately.
Husbands sometimes have trouble getting used to changes in our style, though, don't they? You are not alone there!

And I'm amazed how your new glasses have ramped up your whole look. You always gave off sort of a girlish vibe before (just because you're petite and blonde, not because of how you dressed), but now you look like someone to contend with! Those glasses have increased your authority quotient 1000 % and have given you a nice dose of womanly va-va-voom!

Your SO could join mine in the de-sensitivity class! It's not like you are wearing 5 inch platforms and sporting tons of cleavage for goodness sake. You have them paired with classic flats and sweater. That's just CHIC.

Thank you Parsley, that is such a nice and boosting thing to say. I have noticed others' reactions too. It is different from before. I am taken more seriously from the start. And a stranger smiled to me on the street!

Glasses do play a big role in how you look.

I think you look great in the pants and as I have said several times lately, I don't usually like patterned pants! I love your outfit and that story just made me laugh. DH told me the other day that i looked "colorful" his lingospeak for loud and clashing. I was wearing red coat and citron scarf. I just smiled and sailed out the door with a "thank you". Men just don't "get" it sometimes.

Krish, I think he is just afraid that you will attract too much attention like this because you look TOTALLY COOL! I love your haircut BTW - it does add to the edge factor.
Unfortunately our men need to be educated in the style world...
ETA: after reading Parsley's comment I realize that glasses as well add tot that cool factor! YLF!

Ce n'est pas laideur. You are tres faconnable. I love the story, but really they are not disreputable at all. We have had several YLFers who have encountered similar resistance to their fashion transformations. Stick it out, you are on a roll here (which is American slang for you're doing all the right things)

LOL at your DH's response! Sounds like he should join the DH desensitization program too! I think you look great in these pants and very reputable!

As an aside, I have similar pants too (garnet snakeskin skinny pants). But DH actually liked them! I was shocked. So there is hope! Don't despair!

There was a thread a while ago that discussed how animal prints are sometimes....well, not to put too fine a point on it, man-repellent. I think this is a prime example! Your honey just isn't used to them. But they look so adorable on you, I'm sure his eye will adjust. I vote keep them.

Too funny! I vote keep and hope DH comes around to your point of view. If not, just wear them on days that you won't see much of him. I have a brown sweater dress that my husband really dislikes and I love, so I just wear it on days I don't see him much.

well, you could look at it another way...your husband has insufficient contact with "disreputable" if he thinks these are "mauvais genre". that's good!

ps....LOVE LOVE LOVE the pant. prefer to see the whole gorgeous length of print so i like it better sans boots.

You look so cool, I want to invite you to coffee. I guess many outfits with personality are attractive to other women because we know what it takes to wear them well. I agree with everyone that a desensitisation programme is needed!

I think you look fantastic, especially the way it is all put together in #1. The combination of colors is mouth-watering. You have really made the color tones of each of the items sing by combining them so skillfully together.

I love these pants on you! They are a super fit! They are so spunky and fun!! Why not have a little fun with our wardrobes. I do think that it would help to tone down the loud pants somehow with more conservative supporting pieces. It think knee high riding boots, a boyfriend cardigan, blazer or black tunic would work to tone down the volume of these pants. I definitely wouldn't give up on them, they are so cool.

What a cute story about you and DH. I think the pants are adorable. You look so confident and interesting. Like someone I would love to talk to!

Even after all these years with hubby (that's 20 now!), I'm am not sure what he will think about a new outfit. Sometimes when I think I look fab, he'll think the opposite and vice versa. Sometimes I go with his opinions and sometimes not!
