What's le problem? In my opinion the french are some of the best dressed in Canada!!!! He needs a "Get with the Program"! RIRE

Krishnidoux, you look adorable! Your pants are sassy and your glasses are very chic!

Thank you all for your moral support and your kind words!

I wish DH went to a fashion rehabilitation program. He has the strangest ideas. Tonight we are going out together, I think I will bail him out of the leopard print pants... and wear something even wilder!

Speaking of the French, I realized that there is no exact translation for the expression "Tu fais mauvais genre". Literally, it translates as: "You do bad type/style". As in "it gives a bad impression of you", "it's bad form".

Most dictionaries will show "to look disreputable". As in, to look bad.

But what I find interesting is that while in English bad is something you "look" like, in French, it's something you do. As if you're doing it on purpose. And if not, you are then indeed doing, committing a faux-pas. In English, to "look" bad class could be something that happens to you, almost as if external, like a bird dropping on your head. You happened to look disreputable, it could be by chance even. In French, not. You are the instigator. You are the one willingly walking into the dropping, if you will, whether you intended it or not.

Actually, there is something I like about my DH's comment. I did it on purpose. I did it. Not that the garment floated on me from nowhere for some reason, altering my looks in the others' eyes; rather, it is a deliberate gesture, a thumb of the nose to convention. And that's the whole idea!

Now, if you paired these with a leather corset and some platform stilletto heels, you might look disreputable. But I think they look cute!

Perhaps rebellious is a better translation in this instance than disreputable? You are flouting convention because you like it, and anyone else can go take a hike, right?

I love those print denims and I think you look tres chic! We've all been in the same boat and it can hurt, but go back to your core and be true to yourself. Fashion IS fun and not everyone understands or gets it. I was at a drag race a few weeks back with a polkadot umbrella and sunglasses and my hubster hated it and said "know your audience.". Well, frankly, I'd never want to dress like "that audience.". The next day I toned it down, but I wasn't as happy.

To bring your DH around, I like Rita's suggestion and would also suggest a black top and leather jacket and booties or riding boots. That may be part of the sensitivity training to bring him around.

I think you look fantastic and I'd buy the same pair! Now, let's all have a group hug. ^_^

Oh no, those are too awesome. You can never give them up.

Sometimes, I'm afraid, I have to smack the menfolk down when it comes to fashion. As I like to say, you probably want to be a little gentler... but you know... ;>

krishnidoux, you are a YLF hero for me. I admire your intent and the result!

I really enjoyed your expanded explanation of what your DH said. It's so interesting to learn about the differences in language! Thanks for that. And keep on thumbing your nose, we enjoy the results

Such cute pants on you! Thanks for "unhiding" the pics for me!

So my hubby isn<code>t the only one who dislikes animal prints, eh? But to be fair, I</code>m kind of the same way. I know they<code>re the latest rage, but I just can</code>t get into them, I`m afraid.

But no, not disreputable. Trendy.

I take it your husband is French then? As in European French? In Quebec, they would say "Tu fais dur"...
