The Royal Wedding Thread...

Just thought that I would start this off for anyone watching the coverage of the wedding.

Am loving the hats - so far exactly what I expect from a British wedding, let alone a royal one - and apparently the Beckhams have just arrived.

Oh and have just noticed that the matching bands do not have PPL...

So Fi your not out in the crowds to catch a glimpse??!! I'm not watching yet but it is all a bit exciting! I'll be keen to see Kate's dress.

I would have loved to be there, but my 2 month old and big crowds prevented that.

I loved Kate's dress. So simple, yet very pretty. Ticks all the important modesty requirements for a church. I think she looks timeless and so happy (if a little nervous of course!).

Glad that William chose the uniform he did, if he had chosen his airforce one he wouldn't have been able to match Harry's.

I love the dress, too. And my 16 yo son commented on how well-dressed and elegant the whole Middleton family looked. IMO they looked much more stylish than the royals. I have NO idea what Princess Beatrice was thinking with that hat!

I thought that Carole Middleton looked great too. Very, very simple cut of dress and coat, but works.

I loved Princess Beatrice's hat! It is outlandish, but works for me as it is such a muted colour.

All the pageantry is fantastic. I love the pages' uniforms! They are so sweet.

I love that even the crowds have dressed up - beautiful. And Kate looks so vintage, a real fairytale bride. Loved the Bishop of Londons speech, too.

have to agree re Carole Middleton, understated and elegant! I swear I saw her saying "I'm so happy" as she settled next to Will in the carriage!

Oh, I just loved the dress - so retro and elegant. People on TV were showing it next to Princess Grace's dress and they were very similar. Also loved Queen Elizabeth's yellow jacket with the love knot brooch. Very sweet.

I watched it (at 4am) and enjoyed it. Loved what Kate, her sister Pippa, her mom and the Queen were wearing -- everything was stylish, tasteful and modest. Did notice some of the crazy hats, but I do believe that the Brits can pull it off if anyone can. Just heard that William didn't wear his regiment's uniform, but I still like what he wore. All the gents looked good.

Another Brit here - I also loved Kate's dress. I have a slight bias towards lace sleeves on a wedding dress, as I had lace sleeves, too.

Yes, Kate's (or should I be saying HRH Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge) dress did remind me of Grace Kelly's.

The uniform that William wore is the Irish Guards I believe he became a member of the regiment in February. I love the history that goes with military uniforms and what the different bits represent. Plus, there aren't very many men that don't look good in uniform

There certainly is a very specific style to British wedding dress. Hats, jackets and coats are necessary.

The Queen did look lovely in Yellow.

I could have the wrong info (I blame CTV) but they said that he DIDN'T wear the Irish regiment uniform but another one, and that his friends from that regiment are having some fun with him b/c of it.

He was wearing the uniform of the Irish Guards, but also wore his RAF 'wings' as he serves in the RAF.

Prince Harry looked dashing : ) I have a real soft spot for that lad...

I thought they did an especially great job with Kate's makeup: very natural and not too powdery!!

LOVED the dress, loved the tiara. I thought it was reminiscent of Grace Kelly also.

Didn't really love the veil, though.

I did read somewhere that she'd be doing her own makeup.....It appears she stuck with a classic romantic look which is typical for a morning/early afternoon wedding.

I would have been very surprised if she'd chosen a different makeup look for the day.

I of course am of biased opinion, having done my own makeup for my own 11am wedding, lol. I did oodles of research and spent several hours practicing my look. The morning of my nerves were almost calmed by the process of applying the makeup bc I'd practiced the method so much!

My favourite parts were the beautiful trees and chandeliers which lined part of the cathedral and looked so ethereal. Kate looked so beautiful and true to her personal style. I also loved what the Prime Ministers wife wore, the colours were fab.

I just watched the highlights and they both looked wonderful.
Her dress and make-up although fairy tale like is within her usual style.All the Middletons looked very regal.You could see that the father of the bride was so proud when he walked with his daugther.And the mother of the bride also looked so at ease in the balcony.
I'm totally forgetting the fashion factor here because they looked so happy together.
And the look Prince Harry gave his brother when he saw the bride coming was priceless.

I got up at 3am this morning to watch the wedding live!

I LOVED Kate's dress!!! She was extremely relaxed and her face was beautiful. Can I be awful and say that I didn't like the veil, her hair and the bouquet? William, Harry and Charles were perfect. Her maid of honour was perfect too. I absolutely adored her 40's style gown. Soooo elegant.

Loved the Queen's bright yellow outfit and hat. My favourite part is always the horses

Woke up at 3:30 a.m. to watch about 30 minutes and fell back asleep with the TV on. Oops!

Kate's dress was really lovely and classic. I also wasn't fussy about the veil, but she strikes me as being an understated/elegant kind of girl and maybe the veil plays to that side of her? Her sister looked a-ma-zing in her dress. Gorgeous girls.

It was also fun to compare Kate and her sister's simple, fresh looks with girls like Beatrice and the others in their fun hats and wildly coloured outfits. One woman looked like a giant blueberry with a newspaper boat hat on her head. So fun!

Angie, I agree re the horses - I love them.

Laura, I loved the trees in the cathedral, too - so fresh and spring-like.

I'm amazed and impressed that Kate did her own make-up, and I loved her hair down and her veil and tiara - I thought it was a really young look.

I cannot get my head around Princess Beatrice and Eugenie's hats...

Well, I didn't wake up early but I did DVR it...and I'm watching it now. Kate's dress is FABULOUS! Love, love, love it! Just as everyone has said, the whole Middleton family looks elegant and at ease. I wasn't crazy about the veil when it was over her face, but thought it looked lovely once it was pulled back. I love the trees in the aisles, and I thought the sermon was a lovely meditation on marriage.

I have one little observation that feels somewhat mean, but I'm going to say it anyway: Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie seem to have the same frumpy style their poor mother, Fergie, has...such heavy makeup and goofy clothes. They seemed awkward and ill-at-ease compared to the other guests, and I felt a little sorry for them.

Count me in as a fan of the horses. Love a dappled grey with a rider in a bright red coat.

Also count me as a fan of Kate's dress, veil, makeup, and hair. What I loved about her veil, hair and makeup was the simplicity and polish, how her natural beauty shone through and that nothing was over done, overly fussy. She looked youthful, fresh and elegant and just so lovely.

Also loved Pippa's dress.

Watching the full thing on Tlc now.
The trees are indeed a romantic touch.I don't mind about the veil but the bouquet can only be explained by the meaning of the flowers that compose the.As a bouquet it is not a wow.
I was thinking the same as nancylee regarding the princesses.They just don't think at ease.
Pippa is ravishing,her dress is glorious and she wears it well.

I liked Samantha Cameron's dress, but felt it was slightly out of place for the occasion or maybe it was the fact that she didn't have a headpiece that made it not grand enough for the occasion. Hats aren't of course obligatory, but on royal occasions if the Queen is wearing one the you should too.
